About Biomedical Engineering Division

Biomedical Engineering Division (BmeD) brings together medicine and engineering to discuss the latest issues, enable networking and promote the field.

Biomedical Engineering Division Description

One of the major activities of the Division is organising seminars, workshops and conferences as part of the Institution’s learned society role, often in conjunction with other engineering and medical learned bodies.

These events are organised by small working parties called TACs (Technical Advisory Committees). The chairman of each TAC is usually a member of the Board, and (s)he will assemble a working party for each planned event consisting of experts in the field to define the programme, invite key speakers and review submitted papers.

Current TACs are in the areas of:

AGEING – Chair: Prof Garth Johnson
INCONTINENCE – Chair: Prof Alan Cottenden
ORTHOPAEDICS – Chair: Dr Cathy Holt
ROBOTICS – Chair: Dr Patrick Finlay
CARDIOVASCULAR – Chairs: Prof Spencer Sherwin & Dr Ashraf Khir
We are always looking for new members for TACs, and we would be pleased to hear from you if you would be interested in joining one.

If your particular field of interest is not currently represented, please let us know and we will see how it can be accommodated. Contact health@imeche.org.
