Went to see Wicked last night which was amazing, HOWEVER the chap doing the ‘the show starts in 3 minutes’ etc needs a new clock. Birmingham is a terrible city to get into and before 7.25 he was saying the show is about to start and that you won’t be allowed in for 20 minutes!! People needed the toilets etc and we were rushed In like cattle and the show didn’t start for another ten minutes!!! Why rush us before the advertised start time if you aren’t even ready yourselves? Felt rushed and it ruined the beginning of a great evening!!

User

Went to see Matilda last night 21/08 - absolutely fantastic. The young girl who played Matilda was incredible and for such a young age was superb. So talented and she amazed me. However the whole cast was brilliant and would definitely recommend.

User

We went to watch Titanic last night, 5th June, and LOVED IT !

Cannot believe that the previous reviewer missed the whole point.

This Musical opened on Broadway 6 months before the movie was released, so who on earth were Jack and Rose ?

OK I am biased as I am possibly the only person in the UK to have bought the original cast cd 10 years ago !

This production was thrilling. The set was simple but effective, and some of the special effects, especially during the ( SPOILER ALERT) hitting of the iceberg and sinking were very imaginative.

We attend the theatre a lot, often at the RSC in Stratford, and last nights ensemble cast were brilliant, all of them. Unlike Stratford there was not a weak link ,not a poor voice or character.

Congratulations to all concerned it was a very imaginative and creative retelling of a tragic event.

User

We went to see the 28th April showing of Wicked and we’re not disappointed an amazing show one of the best we’ve seen. So well organised and all the theatre was lit up in green and all the staff were very professional And helpful, the hippodrome never fails to disappoint if you want a good theatre to watch a show.

User

We visit the hippodrome at least once a year and haven't been let down yet the productions are amazing and the staff are so helpful. Matilda was one of the best shows I've seen so far. We will be back soon!

User

We attended last night to see Peter Pan with a large amount of adults with learning disabilities, can’t thank the staff enough for the help and kindness shown to us all. Thank you so much we will definitely be back next year.

User

Saw Matilda on Tuesday 21st August. It was amazing! Fabulous acting, set design, lightning and music! We loved it and will definitely visit again soon!

User

Saw Matilda last night and thought it was fantastic! All the cast were amazing, and the children were superb! Little Matilda was incredible - on stage for nearly every scene, so many words, lyrics and steps to remember - absolutely first class! A complete joy of a show! Scenery was great too. A big thank you to everyone involved, on stage, in the orchestra and behind the scenes! Magical!

User

Matilda the musical was fantastic. The young girl who played Matilda blew me away with her talent. She was onstage pretty much the whole of the performance. Loved it. All the cast were amazing but the children really made this show.

User

Just got back from watching the full monty absolutely brill the only one thing I found odd was Gary Lucy’s attempt at a Yorkshire accent lmao spent years watching him on hollyoaks and the accent just didn’t fit lol but overall a fantastic show well worth a visit

User

I went to see Matilda last night with my mum and 12 year old daughter. Absolutely loved it - staff are so friendly and the show was just totally amazing . Unfortunately the Matilda due to perform was taken poorly in the first act, but after a brief interval Poppy Jones replaced her and the show carried on. Stunning performances from everyone - I enjoyed every single performance and I am totally in awe of the younger actors. Well done and thank you - it’s my second visit this year and can’t wait for more - can’t fault anything and I expect to pay for a good show and seat - thank you !

User

I saw The Band last night, it was absolutely brilliant. My daughter and I were in the front row with spectular view. The cast were fantastic. We laughed, cheered and cried throughout the showed. I would really recommend anyone to see this. The ‘boys’ were great as ‘the band’, I followed them through Let It Shine and was pleased that my favourites won through. great night out.

User

Great night out watching Wicked last night with my daughter. Staff were helpful and friendly and atmosphere was great. Only downside was the person a few seats away insisted on sending text messages throughout the second half which not only blinded us with the backlight but distracted us from the awesome performance and he had the weakest bladder in the world - thought we were involved in a strange Mexican wave! Can’t fault the Hippodrome - just inconsiderate guests!

User

First visit to the Hippodrome. Parked close by, friendly informative staff. As arrived early sat in the bar and enjoyed a drink. Great seats and what a truly spectacular evening watching Matilda. All the cast were truly amazing. Highly recommend theatre and the show.

User

Went last night to see Matilda and “Matilda” was brilliant although l thought she had been given far too many words. Sometimes she was saying or singing them so fast they were inaudible. Too much emphasis on the story telling which caused a lull in the performance l thought.

User

Sorry to say this ,but i was disappointed with my visit ,on Wednesday evening ,to see Matilda. The cast was great but the evening was spoilt by the man sitting in front of me who was tall preventing me from seeing what was happening on the middle of the stage . Not only was he tall , which he obviously can't help, but he was fidgeting constantly...scratching his head, leaning towards his wife ,rubbing his face ....then there were the spotlights , far too bright , certainly not suitable if you suffered from epilepsy, as i went home with a headache ! For the first time in my life , i couldn't wait for the end and to get out of the theatre . BTW , i was sitting in the stalls ,in the middle of the row , so should have been a good seat !

User

Matilda Matinee performance Weds 25 July: very disappointing. Talented child and adult actors but could barely make out the words in any of the songs. At times the music drowned out the voices, and the diction was poor in places. Length is totally unsuitable for the age of children the original story is aimed at. No wonder there was so much shuffling and wriggling. I posted comments on my own FB page and of four people who have seen the show, the two who saw it in Lindon thought it was great. The ones who saw it in Birmingham agreed with me. My granddaughter (13) and I were very disappointed. At £130 for two tickets, I expected better.

User

Went to see Titanic the Musical yesterday, Saturday 9th June. OMG it has to be the worst ever Musical(I use that term loosley)

It was beyond bad. I so wanted to go down with the Ship after the first 30 minutes.

The music was so depressing, as were the Characters. No depth, nothing whatsoever to link the the plot.

Ok, we all know that Titanic sank but apart from a bloke popping up every 3 or 4 minutes yelling "Iceberg warning Captain" was as exciting as it got.

As for the so called original music score, pffft, my 3 year old grandson could have done better.

Dire beyond belief.

So many people Walked out before the intermission I wished we had joined them. As it was, we waited for the break and then along with other patrons, ran like Rats from ths doomed performance. An hour and a half of my life i will never get back.

User

Me and my mom visited the Hippodrome to watch Titanic last night. It was nothing like we expected.. we ended up leaving in the interval as did quite a few others. Yes the actors did a good job singing but that’s all it was.. barely understood the story line and barely understood any of the words as the whole thing was in song. I get a musical has singing in but this was ridiculous. We thought the show would have been based on the film, completely the opposite! You see Matilda being advertised which will be like the film so surely Titanic should be advertised saying not based on the film??
