Week 14 and the final week of the Teesside Union season saw us travel to 2nd placed and title contenders Castle Eden Golf Club. With 3rd placed Wynyard also mathematically being able to win the league we needed 7 points for definite to be crowned champions.
In the first few matches a lot came through 7/8 holes down however the night eventually turned. One of the seasons top performers Curtis Lowes turned his match around despite being 4 down he won on the 18th for the 1st 2 ...points. He was closely followed by Niall Bennison who’s enjoyed his first full season in the league after breaking in the team last season. Adam Peart made it 6 then Chris Thompson walked up the 16th fairway giving the thumbs up to a win giving us 8 points which was well received by the mass support on the 17th tee. Jamie Birkbeck won yet again which capped off a outstanding individual season for him and last but certainly not least Steven Burn closes his game out on 17th to confirm a fantastic 12-12 draw.
It’s been an amazing year which seen us only lose 2 games narrowly 14-10, drawn 2 games and won 10 games including 4 away from home!
Can I personally thank David Jobey & the Greenstaff, Lesley Emerson & the Catering staff, John Wren, all our supporters and caddies, Vice Captain Wayne Mundy, Captain Tony Davis and most of all every single player for you’re dedication and hard work throughout the season and worthy now of been called CHAMPIONS.

Week 13 of the Teesside Union season saw the men’s team travel to fellow title challengers Middlesbrough Golf Club, a course were we’ve struggled in years gone by.
In the scratch section Graham Milne and Stephen Ridley both eased through their matches both winning. In a tighter match Steven Burn holed a testing pressure putt on the 18th green to clinch the victory with Jamie Birkbeck added another point to his seasons impressive total with a good half taking our tally to 7 f...rom this section.
In the handicap section both sides fielded very similar handicaps with looked close on paper and proved to be correct. Wins came from Adam Peart, Niall Bennison and Alan Barker halving this section 6-6.

A truly fantastic result at a tough away course and incredibly extends our winning run too 7 games in a row. Next week is the final week of the season at Castle Eden who are also pushing for the league title along with Wynyard who coincidently play each other this Wednesday night.

On Sunday 21st July the men’s team hosted Saltburn in the 3rd round of the Annodata Matchplay. Leading Bishop out was Graham Milne which got the afternoon of to a great start by winning his match. Closely followed Graham was Curtis Lowes who carried on his impressive form by winning his match. The win was sealed when Niall Bennison won his game on the 16th green. Adam Peart made a great birdie on the 18th to half his match

Week 12 of the Teesside Union season saw the men’s team host Blackwell on a very wet Wednesday evening.
In the scratch section Jamie Birkbeck and Michael Henson continued their form from the County Championship both winning their matches. Wins also came from Paul King, Graham Milne & Stephen Ridley giving us a impressive 10 points from a possible 12.
In the handicap section young guns Adam Peart, Niall Bennison and Curtis Lowes reliable as ever all won their matches with Chr...is Thompson and Alan Barker chipping in with halves each giving us 8 from this section.

Another great victory which gives us 6 wins in a row on what was a difficult night to keep focused and dry. Well done to all and thanks to all that supported even in the rain.
Next week sees us travel to Middlesbrough Brass Castle Golf Club on a Monday night due to a fixture clash on Middlesbrough’s behalf.

On a warm Sunday afternoon our Ladies Annodata team hosted a very strong Pannal Golf Club. In a very tight we managed to come out 3.5 v 1.5 victors to advance to the next round.

What a fantastic weekend and was a huge pleasure to host such a prestigious event

Another successful day and round 2 finished in the County Championship. 4 home players through to rounds 3&4 tomorrow, Stephen Ridley, Wayne Melles, Jamie Birkbeck and Michael Henson.
Top of the leaderboard is tight with Michael Henson still leading on -5. Jamie also in contention on -3

Week 11 of the Teesside Union season saw the men’s team travel to nearby Darlington Golf Club.
In the scratch section Jamie Birkbeck had a hot night winning his match which was filled plenty of birdies. He was followed with wins from Michael Henson, Steven Burn & Wayne Hewitt with Graham Milne gaining a half taking our tally to 9 for this section.
In the handicap section we faced one of our most difficult nights yet with most players giving 4 or 5 shots. However good news c...ame with wins coming from Adam Peart, Niall Bennison and the ever reliable Alan Barker giving us 6 from this section.

Another fantastic performance from the team making it 5 wins on the spins. Next week sees us host Blackwell at home in our final home game this campaign.

Week 10 of the Teesside Union season saw the men’s team host defending league champions and fellow title contenders Wynyard.
In the scratch section as expected the away team were extremely strong with 5 out the 6 players being plus golfers. Out at No.1 Jamie Birkbeck yet again saw off another difficult challenge by winning his match. Recently crowned NYSD champion Michael Henson defeated the current 2 time County Champion with Steven Burn defeating one of his old teammates g...iving us 6 points from a possible 12.
In the handicap section Paul King led from the front by winning his match, Paul was later backed up by Chris Thompson with another win. Adam Peart was back also back to winning ways with Curtis Lowes winning once again for the team. Last but least Alan Barker battled hard once again at No.12 and gained a half point giving us another 9 points.

Another tough battle as expected but a fantastic result against a very strong side so well done to every player and supporter involved. Next week sees us travel to Darlington golf club we’re we look to extend our winning run.

Congratulations to our own Michael Henson on winning the NYSD Championship at our course today. Having never had a winner in this competition it’s now two from the last two years as Michael joins Stefan Labuschagne.
Thanks to the Teesside Union for hosting this, thanks to Ian Graham for getting this event at our club. Once again thanks to the caterers and green staff for showcasing our club in a great light once again. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
