Went on a Thursday evening. Got free starter with main meal. Both mine and the hubbys food was lovely. Service was fab and not too rushed and always topped up with drinks. Will deffo go back

Went for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. Food was excellent, as was the service. 5 stars from me ��

We went with some friends Friday food was fantastic staff very helpful. Was so nice we went back Saturday with our son and future daughter in law. Food was again outstanding plenty to choose from also reasonably priced. Would recommend eating here. We will be back . Well done to chef & staff you are all credit to this company xx

Had lunch with mum yesterday my first visit...what warm welcome very friendly staff and excellent food and very nice decor would highly recommend a visit fabulous!!

Food here is always excellent, cocktails are fab with lots of choice! Visit here mostly for lunch. Have visited once in the evening and there was quite a few different dishes from the day menu so that was nice! 😀

First visit, only called for a drink but we will be back to sample the food menu. I had a cocktail � and loved it.

Very busy place, people in and out all the time.

Brilliant night out. Excellent food and staff are so welcoming and friendly. (Have to mention Paddy! He was lovely)it has been one of the best nights out in a long time!

We visited for lunch on a great service with lovely food and a good choice of drinks, with a nice outside seating area to eat on but on a negative side the drinks are expensive and if your sitting outside it is also a smoking area so if your eating or have kids you may want to stay inside.

Watch out if you have a rosti!! I found a piece of wood in my rosti after wondering what the hard sharp thing was in my mouth. I thought it was plastic but was reassured by the waiter that it was a large splinter of wood from a vegetable crate!! £3.40 knocked off my bill made me feel so much better...NOT!! Goodness knows how much more I swallowed or what would have happened had I choked! Disgusting!

Very disappointing meal for a friends birthday on Saturday night.....so sad to be leaving a bad review for what has been one of my favourite eateries for a long time.....



Langoustines - special starter - smallest amount of meat on them...4 in total amounted to about the same as 1 small prawn. Far too small to be used in such a dish.



Mushroom specials....both cold.



Barnsley chop....barely any meat on first one but the server had apparently noticed (or maybe overheard my reaction) & hurriedly had the chef cook another one which was much larger. Would have been fine & a nice gesture had the meat not been tough as old boots & clearly not cooked in the same manner.



Chips - all portions cold & hard



Steaks x 2....both luke warm & one barely edible & wasn't eaten.



Chicken special which was supposed to be served on a bed of noodles.....NO NOODLES?!!!



We did of course complain & were given a reduction of £30 in vouchers which we used on the night to reduce the bill but the experience has left a bad taste and it's unlikely that we will return any time soon!! Don't know what's happened, really disappointing 😔

The Italian meatballs were greasy, pasta was over cooked, and when I spoke to the waiter, we didn't even get a 'sorry about that', he just charged us a fortune for terrible food. Very disappointing.

Me and my girlfriend came in for lunch. The starters came and we were disappointed. My girlfriend ordered deep fried Brie wedges which were rock hard and sent them back and they replaced them some more which were similarly as hard. Then we ordered tapas which was a disappointment overall the calamari was hard and over cooked (tasted more like onion rings), the potato bravas were not authentic and tasted like potatoes with lloyd grosman tomato sauce. Staff were helpful and friendly and the place has great potential but sadly did not perform on the day! Overall the food we experienced felt very processed and frozen.

I've been going to the 42 for years and had great experiences. I came tonight and although the bar staff were lovely as usual we had a bad experience. Unfortunately we had to complain about one meal. The rest of the food was fine but the pork was really dry. We told the waiter who was half asleep and lookked like he didn't care. He told the chef who bickered behind the counter in front of us making us feel very uncomfortable. The lady with the red and black hair then made us feel even more uncomfortable for the remainder of the evening. As a customer you have a right to give feedback and this was very disappointing as a regular.
