Hey everyone. Apologies to anyone trying to call but havent been able to get through the last couple of days. BT has made a bit of a boo boo on there end and it has left us without a phone at present. They are trying to sort out a diversionary line for us whilst they fix the problem. Here is his review: "My car was in for an MOT, service and some gremlins were discovered so instead of killing a few hours I had to stay out over lunch time...but where to eat in Shrewsbury? I fancied more than a Philpott's sublime sarnie, something cooked, warm and comforting before I forked out on the car, again.....but not a pub like Cromwell's ...or a chain like Carluccio's or Ask or Loch Fyne.....hmmmm....aha! Bistro Jacques looked tempting - drinkers and diners at tables outside so in I barged like a raiding detective from the French Surete, Clouseau-like and optimistic. I asked if they served moules, they did, so I was seated and got stuck into the French stick and ordered a large glass of Chablis, quaffing away and people-watching like a large loutish Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (minus sketchbook!). While I waited for my steaming mussels I read the vintage newspapers forming part of the decor and pondered the bravery of the French army and peoples under the black Nazi jackboot heel recorded for posterity there - how would we have beared up under similar circumstances for five interminable years? Badly, I think. I felt a strong pang of kinship with our cousins across the channel - I feel so bad about Brexit, Boris, Theresa, Nige and Dave - not the mention Jacob, the Honourable Member for the 19th century! Thankfully my mussels arrived and I was able to focus on strata above the bottom-feeders that our so-called leaders have become! Delish! French flair, flavours and simplicity restored my equilibrium and made me share the glorious French motto Liberte, Egalite & Fraternite and indeed embody it in joie de vivre, bonhomie and je ne sais quoi as I left, happy with the bill and ready to face my car repair bill. Lovely service, lovely food, lovely staff, lovely place. Merci beaucoups! Pip-pip!"

Popular and sticking around from our Septembre menu throughout October is our Crisp filo pastry parcel, filled with marinated feta cheese, olives and spinach. Served with rocket leaves and a cherry tomato chutney.
As with all our dishes it comes with a skillet of hot vegetables, new potatoes and gratin dauphinois.
