Preschool leavers Princess and Pirate fun!!

User

What fun the Little Toddlers had today during a trip to the park! :)

User

Ahoyyyy Matey! What a fun Pirate themed day we have had today in Big Toddlers! We have walked the plank, decorated some Pirate cookies, sailed on the oceans and enjoyed some messy sea-foam play! :)

The babies and toddlers have really enjoyed exploring their current theme of colours, and have been enjoying this through many different types of creative and sensory play. One of the most recent activities enjoyed was creating rainbow pictures, where we experimented with mixing colours whilst painting. We also had a go at using different items to make marks with, such as utensils and blocks.

Reminder! Our Big Toddle is taking place on Wednesday the 8th of August @10:30am. We are asking for donations on the day to support the Barnardo's Children's charity. Please inform a member of the team if you are able to join us at 10:30 to be part of the fun.

Preschool have been learning all about People Who Help Us, and based on a recent visit from a Police Officer, the children took park in a recent investigation to solve a mystery. Someone had been into the Nursery, and made lots of mess! The children then searched the Nursery for clues, taking pictures as evidence, and finally discovered that it was Goldilocks! The mystery was solved, well done little officers! 🕵️‍♂️👮‍♀️

Today in Big Toddlers we have been experimenting with mark-making on different textures, and we had a go at using crayons to mark make on the tree's. The children really enjoyed looking at the different effects, and we plan to use paint next time to see what effects we can make! 😃

This week we had a very special visit from Mrs. Collis, our local post lady, as part of our current People Who Help Us theme. Mrs. Collis talked to the children about the processes within the post service, and shared insights about her role. She shared her special key to the post boxes with the children, and we all had a go at writing and posting our own letters too. Thank you for joining us Mrs. Collis 😃📩📬🗳️

We are so pleased to have received such positive feedback about our New Nursery Menu's, which will launch in September. Our fantastic new food provision will run on a seasonal rota, to cater for the preferences of meal types throughout the warmer and cooler months of the year.
We are also excited to announce that we also be hosting weekly themed menu's for different events, such as Halloween, Chinese New Year, Diwali and much more! 🎃🍜🥣
We would love to continue to receive yo...ur feedback, so please comment below your thoughts on the new and improved menus, and perhaps some suggestions for our weekly themes! 😁
Thank you!

Yesterday we had a visit from PC Elvidge as part of our "People who help us". He came along and told us about his job as a Police Officer, and brought along some of his uniform and equipment to share with the children. The children had lots of questions and really enjoyed trying on and having a go with some of the items. PC Elvidge also read a Police themed story to the children and afterwards we had a play in our role play police station. Thank you so much PC Elvidge for the fun session!

HOT LEVEL 2 WEATHER ALERT - MET OFFICE
Dear Parents and Carers,
The Met Office has declared a Hot Weather Alert Level 2 for East of England. The Met Office forecasts means there is 60% chance of temperatures being high enough on at least two consecutive days to have significant effects on health of very warm or hot days, especially across western parts.
... Here at Blackberries we are following the guidance from the Public Health Looking for after children and those in early years settings during heatwaves. Please view the Heatwave Plan for England for advice and guidance, which includes the following:
Stay out of the Heat:
• keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm • if you have to go out in the heat, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen and wear a hat and light scarf • avoid extreme physical exertion • wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothes
Cool yourself down:
• have plenty of cold drinks, and avoid excess alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks • eat cold foods, particularly salads and fruit with a high water content • take a cool shower, bath or body wash • sprinkle water over the skin or clothing, or keep a damp cloth on the back of your neck
Keep your environment cool:
• keeping your living space cool is especially important for infants, the elderly or those with chronic health conditions or who can’t look after themselves • place a thermometer in your main living room and bedroom to keep a check on the temperature • keep windows that are exposed to the sun closed during the day, and open windows at night when the temperature has dropped • close curtains that receive morning or afternoon sun, however, care should be taken with metal blinds and dark curtains, as these can absorb heat – consider replacing or putting reflective material in-between them and the window space • turn off non-essential lights and electrical equipment – they generate heat • keep indoor plants and bowls of water in the house as evaporation helps cool the air • if possible, move into a cooler room, especially for sleeping • electric fans may provide some relief, if temperatures are below 35°C2
Guidance for people and communities:
• keep an eye on people you know to be at risk • stay tuned into the weather forecast and keep stocked with food and medications • check ambient room temperatures Individuals • stay tuned into the weather forecast • check ambient room temperatures – especially those rooms where disabled or high risk individuals spend most of their time • keep an eye on people you know to be at risk – ensure they have access to plenty of cool liquids • look out for vulnerable neighbours

Can we please remind all parents and carers that your child's first application of suncream is to be applied before they begin their session. This is to ensure your child is ready to join in with outdoor play having the protection of their suncream already applied and the 20-30 minute time period met as per sunsafe guidelines. Thank you :)

What a fantastic superhero day we have today in Preschool! Our little superheroes have been very busy carrying out important missions to help our friends. Well done everyone :)

User

Parents/Carers,
We have been advised that areas cordoned off on Norwich Road have now been lifted, and the area is now accessible as normal.
Thank you.

I really enjoyed my experience of being a student at Blackberries so then I went onto becoming an employee. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and work hard together to ensure the children are all well cared for whilst in our care. I enjoy looking after all the children and allowing them to have fun whilst at nursery and support them within their development. My job looking after all the little ones is very rewarding by helping and watching them develop and achieve new milestones. It has been a pleasure to meet all of the lovely families and children over the years since i have been part of Blackberries. Thank you for choosing our nursery xx
