so me and my fiance came in for her birthday meal, as we walked in thought, this place looks beautiful, ordered our food and drinks, and was served with impeccable timing.. THEN the fire alarm went off, and these guys handled the situation extremely well. Everything about last night was perfect for us, a great experience, but something still had to go a little bit wrong haha!

We came to Blackhouse for our anniversary, as we do every year on the 13th February. We were welcomed in with a lovely smile and was then served by an exceptional member of staff named Joe who was full of knowledge and advice. The food is always amazing and thanks to Joe's expertise - the wine was amazing as well!

Visited Wednesday 31st. Excellent food and service. Starters were Piri Piri Calamari and Smoked Haddock (as recommended by our waitress). Both of us had Fillet steaks, perfectly cooked, and finished with Banana bread & butter Pudding. My reservations on Bananas with Bread and Butter pudding were assuaged by our waitress, who as with her starter recommendation was correct. The 50% off food is a bargain not to be missed, but the food, and service by our waitress were exemplary. Can't advise who the waitress was as wasn't her name on the bill when it arrived.

Great family meal today...our waiter was fantastic again (sorry can't remember his name)....very pleasant with the children. Fantastic steaks and the Calamari was amazing........ Thanks again from us all.......

Every November for the past six years we have visited Leeds for a weekend and this is the one restaurant we always visit on one of the evenings. Staff have always been lovely and the food excellent. It’s a lively but relaxed atmosphere and would recommend people to try.

Ate at Blackhouse yesterday after winning a competition through Morgan’s. Not been for a few months and so we were hugely looking forward to our treat. We weren’t disappointed! Overwhelmed by the generosity shown to us. We had fabulous drinks (the amaretto sours was divine), and stunning wine (Malbec - the only choice with steak!).

The food was sensational - our steaks were cooked to perfection.

The biggest shout goes to our server Myles. Fantastic service. He was knowledgable, made excellent recommendations and generally made our experience an absolute pleasure.

Big thanks to Morgan’s and Blackhouse. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Absolutely world class restaurant, I have visited Black House numerous times and each time I have been treated brilliantly. Staff are welcoming and informative without being overly-pushy like some restaurants. The food is equally as amazing as the service and not once have I been let down, the Tomahawk Sharing Steaks are great!



Unfortunately today during the wait for our bill a fire alarm went off and we were evacuated for a short amount of time whilst the WYFRS did a check of the building. Our waiter Sam was apologetic and once back inside we were offered a free round of drinks and a large discount off of our bill for the very minor inconvenience.



A special shout out to the pianist Shane for adding to the classy atmosphere with his wonderful skills on a piano and alluring vocals.



Once again Black House have gone above and beyond, thankyou for making an anniversary meal extra special! Alex & Hannah

Absolutely stunning steak and can’t fault the service one bit! Always have a fantastic meal and will be back for many many more ���

Absolutely beaut food. Looked at individual steaks but well recommended by Miles to get a 1.5kg Tomahawk between 3 of us (could of easily done 4)

Food was excellent and our waitress was lovely and very good. However the ladies toilets were awful, no toilet paper in any of the 4, sick on one of the toilet seats, and another with sanitary pads wrapped in toilet paper. Very unhygienic.

Came for our anniversary meal, I spoke to the lady in the phone twice during the day, first time to change our booking to a slightly later time and then I called back regarding parking and when we arrived there was no resivation at all!! the food was lovely however what we hadn't realised was the amount of noise there would be. Couldn't have a conversation and we were sat opposite each other- kind of put a downer on the evening but the food and cocktails were fab

Average at best. Tiger prawn starter was devoid of taste. The sirloin main meal, to be fair was cooked perfectly and was a decent size portion. Plenty of vegetables to accompany the steak. Dessert ? Oh dear. Far too sweet. Nice ice cream though. Service was fine.

Blackhouse used to be a great venue. Used to be.



Dined here today, was entertaining some clients who were down from the North East. Our server; Zoe, was sadly not attentive and didn't seem to appreciate that one of our table talked to her about anything other than what his order was. Items were forgotten when the meals came out, and when ordering off the lunch menu (only one of us, the rest of the main menu), no offer of coffee or muffin was made, even though these are part of the menu. Blackhouse used to feel exclusive, now it feels like an expensive gastropub.

We booked a table for 8:15 and got here around 10 mins early we sat down and waited 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and ended up going to the bar to see where the drinks were. It took another 15 minutes for the drinks to turn up. When we eventually ordered the food it took over an hour to arrive. The service has been shocking and we sat for another 20 minutes after we have finished eating for our plates to be collected. The waiter who had been sent to collect our plates wasn’t our original waiter and he had been clearly sent over on purpose as the waiter realised we were unhappy and was trying to avoid our table. It was clear that they were talking about us. Would not come here again.



The staff did knock some money off the bill however the waiter who brought the bill to us, put it on the table and did not explain what he had done or apologise for the service/food.

Terrible.. that’s one word I could use for it! I just can not believe the lack of customer service. They were just rude, slow and clearly didn’t care. I used to love this place but it has gone down hill!!

Most appalling ‘greeting’ I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant! We were told to wait at the bar ‘for a few minutes’ by the surly hostess. Ordered a drink and waited 25 minutes whilst she seated everyone else that walked through the door. I asked to speak to the manager - his response was vacant and he obviously didn’t give a sh*t.

Customer service is non existent.

We left and went to Gaucho.

Incidentally, the server in Gaucho had had virtually the same experience in Blackhouse with his partner the week before! If you’re planning a special occasion or entertaining clients, give it a wide berth. The only good thing about Blackhouse is the fairy lights.

Had my 30th Birthday dinner here on Saturday 02 December. Despite having booked in JULY we were not seated for our 9pm booking until gone 9:30pm. There was then utter confusion as to what menus we were meant to be eating from despite the PA confirming our set menu selection earlier in the week. We paid a deposit of £10 pp for a group of 17 otherwise we would have walked it but we didn’t want to lose such a large sum of money. Front of house staff were exceptionally rude and unhelpful completely ruining what was meant to be a special evening. We were offered a reduction on the bill but when I put my concerns into writing and emailed I didn’t even receive the curtesy it a response from ANNA HESLOP. I would definitely discourage anyone looking to dine here in a large group for a special occasion. Thanks for nothing Blackhouse!

We were offered a reduction on the bill but when I put my concerns into writing and emailed I didn’t even receive the curtesy it a response from ANNA HESLOP. I would definitely discourage anyone looking to dine here in a large group for a special occasion. Thanks for nothing Blackhouse!
