CCTV appeal
An investigation is underway following four robberies in Blackpool over a two week period.
The incidents occurred between 1st and 14th April and we are now appealing for information.
... The first incident occurred at around 5:30am on 1st April on Mansfield Road close to the cemetery.
The offender approached a man and produced a knife, making demands for property.
The victim luckily escaped without harm and didn’t have anything stolen.
The man is described as being white and was wearing a dark hooded top.
The second incident happened at around 7:30am on 12th April. A man entered the Subway restaurant on Westcliffe Drive armed with a hammer. He asked the staff to empty the till and left with a small amount of cash.
The man is described as being white and wearing a dark jacket or hoody, with his face partially covered by a hat or snood.
Later that same day, at approximately 10pm a man matching the same description entered the Bargain Booze store on Talbot Road. Staff refused to hand over any property and he left empty handed. It is not known if any weapons were present.
The final incident took place at Subway again, on 14th April. The offender entered the store carrying a knife and instructed the staff to empty the tills into a carrier bag, stealing around £300 in cash.
We have released CCTV images from both incidents at Subway and are appealing for the public's help.
Enquiries are ongoing but we currently believe the incidents are linked.

If your vehicle doesn't have insurance then we will seize it, just like we have tonight with this green bike. Driving in an anti social manner is also unacceptable and a section 59 was also issued to another motorcycle.

*PLEASE SHARE* This week, we're backing the Make Yourself Heard Campaign to raise awareness of the silent 999 system. This Silent Solution allows someone calling 999 from a mobile who is too scared to speak or make a noise to press 55 when prompted. This then tells us, the police, when the call comes through that it is a genuine emergency. The campaign has been launched by the Independent Office for Police Complaints during this week which is National Stalking Awareness Week. The system is well established and could literally be a life saver for a stalking or domestic abuse victim - however lots of people still don't know about it. Please have a look at our website for more information and share this post to make sure as many of you as possible find out how to use it if you ever need to. Thanks #MakeYourselfHeard #SilentSolution

This morning the local neighbourhood policing team joined in with the children, parents and staff from the Dunes Nursery at their Easter event. We happily joined in with the egg and spoon race and we were also very proud to be the judges for the Easter bonnet competition. The smiles from all the children this morning were lovely to see, a big thankyou to everyone involved for a great community event.

** COURT RESULT **
A former youth club director has been jailed for 20 years after carrying out a campaign of sexual abuse against a teenage girl.
Christopher Rixon, 42, of Holmfield Road, Blackpool, was sentenced today (Tuesday) at Preston Crown Court having previously been found guilty of eight counts of rape, six counts of sexual assault and two counts of inciting a girl aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity.
... The offences took place during the 2010s at Monty’s Youth Club in Blackpool, where Rixon was a director.
When he was arrested Rixon told officers he had begun a relationship with the victim when she was 16, and that nothing had happened prior to that. He also claimed that any sexual contact between the pair had been consensual.
He maintained his innocence throughout the trial.
Investigating Officer Simon Morris, of the Lancashire Police Public Protection Unit, said: “I am glad the jury saw through Christopher Rixon’s lies, and saw him for the dangerous sexual predator he is.
“I can’t overstate the impact that his actions had on the victim, and she must be commended for showing immense bravery in reporting Rixon to us.
“He has shown no remorse by denying the offences, forcing her to go through the ordeal of a trial, and I am pleased he is now behind bars where he belongs.
“I hope the result of this trial brings her and her family some comfort, and that they are able to start moving forwards with their lives.
“I also hope it sends a message that at Lancashire Police we take all reports of sexual offences seriously.
“If anyone has been the victim of a sexual offence – recently or in the past – we would urge them to come forward and report it to us in the knowledge that we take all reports seriously and that victims are treated sensitively and professionally at all times.
“Offences can be reported to us on 101, or anonymously through independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
For a full breakdown of the counts Rixon was found guilty of, and sentences, see our website here: http://socsi.in/n3v8D
He was also found not guilty of two counts of rape of a girl over 16, and not guilty of two counts of sexual touching of a child relating to a separate girl.

Due to the number of bicycle thefts in Blackpool and surrounding areas recently we are encouraging residents to take pictures of their bikes and make a note of any serial numbers on them. This will really help us to return property to the rightful owner when we come across stolen or abandoned bikes.
The next bike coding event will take place on Tuesday 16th April 2019 at Mereside Children's Centre, Langdale Road Blackpool between 13:00 and 16:00

Four people arrested in connection with allegations of mistreatment and neglect at Blackpool Victoria Hospital have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
The healthcare professionals – one man and three women – were arrested (Wednesday, April 3rd) yesterday on suspicion of administering any poison or noxious thing with the intent to injure and ill treatment or wilful neglect.
In November we were contacted by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation ...Trust after concerns were raised about the care provided to some patients, which related to alleged mistreatment and neglect on the stroke unit in November 2018.
The total number of people arrested as part of the investigation now totals seven after a woman was arrested in November and a man and woman were arrested in December.
We are continuing to work closely with the Trust as well as HM Coroner for Blackpool and Fylde as part of the investigation.
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log reference 0553 of November 14th. Alternatively, if you have any information which could assist the police investigation, please go to: http://socsi.in/F9GNG

On the afternoon of Thursday 28th March 2019, six bikes were stolen from the secure bike enclosure at Millfield Science & Performing Arts College in Thornton. Please take a minute to watch the CCTV of the theft. One of the suspects is wearing a baseball cap with "Bubba" or something similar written on it. The other is wearing a grey "Franklin & Marshall" hoodie. Can you match the clothing and the features of the individuals? The theft is the second from the school in a short ...space of time and has caused upset to students, parents and the school itself, which is now having to spend a significant amount of school funds upgrading their security. If you have any information about the incident, please e-mail 4624@lancashire.pnn.police.uk quoting log number 0864 of the 28th March.
