Bladon Chains Club Site Description

Bladon Chains Caravan Club Site is situated on the Blenheim Estate, so you will have the pleasure of seeing magnificent trees all around you, on this gently sloping location, which is situated just outside the wall of the Palace Garden. You can walk to famous Bladon Church from the corner of the caravan park where you can see Churchill's modest but memorable grave. Then you will want to visit the Palace, where Churchill was born; it has also been home to the historic Dukes of Marlborough since the eighteenth century.

We really enjoyed our stay all the staff we met were very happy and helpful and the grounds are very well looked after. We will come back soon.

User

Very well run and friendly site. All facilities are clean and tidy as is the whole camp. Staff are more than helpful. Woodstock is a 20min walk with a coop open till 11pm mon to sat and most pubs are dog friendly. The bus to oxford takes about 20min and also allow dogs on board.

This site is in a really good location for Oxford and of course Blenheim. Friendly, approachable wardens who maintain the site to a high standard. There is some traffic noise but the outlook is very pleasant with a nice dog walk/field.

User

User

Lovely site. All staff welcoming and friendly. Quiet location although the road you access it on can be busy but it's the main access road for coaches going to blenheim. Cannot fault the site for bring clean and tidy. All in all a lovely site highly recommended.

Just stayed on the site for 3 nights. Really enjoyed, lovely area and very nice helpful staff.

User

Great site! Ideal for visiting Blenheim Palace. Friendly helpful wardens. Unfortunately didn't get to sample steak n frites due to technical problems!!

User

Friendly and well maintained site. Some pitches look over a field of sheep which our son loved. Lots of things to do locally so we'll be coming back

We spent two nights at this site and found the wardens friendly and the site tidy and well kept. The toilet/shower facilities were rather tired looking but were clean and in good order. The site was quiet and relaxing - however, we were not in one of the pitches that experienced road noise.

We walked to Bladen village to see the Churchill graves and beautiful stained glass in the church. We also enjoyed the walk into the picturesque village of Woodstock and had coffee in a delightful courtyard garden and bought some scrumy lunch in a local deli.

We plan to return to visit Blenheim Palace soon.

This is a lovely site, however, we were pitched at the end nearest the main road which was busy and noisy. The ablution block is kept clean and tidy but is a little bit tired and could do with a facelift. The wardens were excellent, cheerful and hard working.

User

The location next to Blenheim Palace was wonderful, enjoyed the surrounding area including pubs and walks. The site is in need of investment, many potholes, hardstandings looking unkept and the placement of the shower curtain was beyond me, hung so the water ran on to the platform you dry/dress on!! The wardens were friendly and very welcoming and regardless of comments the site was clean with nice large pitches. I am looking forward to returning.

User

On the whole the site is great. Tidy, clean and perfectly located for Bladon, Woodstock and of course Blenheim Palace. The wardens are friendly and work very hard. However, facilities are in dire need of a facelift! There is only one hand drier and hairdryer in ladies! Come on club, get this sorted!

User

Nice site, well kept with friendly wardens.

However the pitches are around a figure 8, and if you are unfortunate enough to be on the left side near the main road it is very, very noisy! When we arrived this side had the only free pitches, unsurprisingly! The hard standings are very small too, with a lot of them not able to take even a small awning.

Luckily we had beautiful weather, so being on grass didn't matter.

The facilities are ok, old, but clean & spacious, there needs to be some more, 4 showers is no where near enough!

We had 4 nights here which was plenty for us as it was just a stop over.

Nice area to explore, however we would stay somewhere else if we came to this area again.

My summary is like many others. Friendly helpful wardens. Nice site but a bit cramped in some pitches. Noisy by the main road, also by the entrance roadway as cars fly past. Added to that the truckers that park on the lane and leave their refrigerant generators running.

The toilet block needs a refurb and their is no site wi-fi only a hotspot by the information shed.

The big down side has been a huge rat that keeps visiting our pitch from the rough ground behind us so we have had to move out to the front of the caravan with our outdoor table and keep the pitch spotlessly clean from food waste.

Worst of all the other site visitors. One evening a group of 4 adults playing music quietly outside their van but then singing along to it thinking they could not be heard? As the weather was roasting hot all the surrounding caravans had their windows open making it worse. They finally quit at 11.30 but then clattered about tidying up. Despite me slamming all the windows shut they took no notice. My partner had to stop me going ballistic with them.

The other issue was someone had taken a poo in one of the showers and left it in the drainage grate inside the shower. Pretty disgusting. But at least they had used tissue to wipe their bum

I know we can’t blame the club for all of these issues, or the Wardens but something to keep in mind if you intend visiting the site.

Lovely relaxed site, good dog walking and very friendly wardens. Would recommend.

User

Just had the one night stopover, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stop here again for a longer time to visit the area.

User

Fantastic location although the main road can be a bit noisy. A few potholes on the road round the site which could do with sorting before they get any worse. Showers are brilliant, nice and powerful.

User

Convenient for Oxford and the cotswolds. Friendly, warm welcome by the staff. Usual high standard you would expect from the caravan Club.
