вӯҗпёҸвӯҗпёҸMEET SCARвӯҗпёҸвӯҗпёҸ
рҹ”№Scar is just one of many cats that the hospital will see come in as the warmer weather starts.
рҹ”ёOn one of the warm days Scar fell from 5 stories and is very lucky to live to tell the tale, he suffered a Badly fractured front leg which despite our best efforts we could not repair and it had to be amputated, he also had lacerated his tongue which required stitching.
... рҹ”№Scars owner felt that it was best to sign him over to Blue Cross for us to look for a home with a garden for this inquisitive 1 year old male.
рҹ”ёWe have also neutered, chipped, vaccinated and treated Scar with flea / worm prevention before he transferred to one of our rehoming centres.
рҹ”№Not all cats are as lucky as Scar when falling from windows and balconies and we always want to remind people that:

вӯҗпёҸвӯҗпёҸMEET GYPSY MAYвӯҗпёҸвӯҗпёҸ
We took little pup Gypsy May on from one of the local councils after she was found abandoned in a supermarket car park and she was also suffering from Parvovirus вҳ№пёҸ
вқ“вқ“What is Parvovirusвқ“вқ“
... рҹ”ёCanine parvovirus is a highly contagious disease that can be fatal to dogs.
рҹ”№Puppies aged six weeks to six months are most at risk.
рҹ”ёParvo attacks a dogвҖҷs cells in their intestine, meaning they become dehydrated and weak.
рҹ”№There is no cure, but vaccinating a dog or puppy against parvo will protect them
рҹ”ёSymptoms of parvo include foul-smelling diarrhoea with blood in it, vomiting, loss of appetite, collapse, depression, fever and sudden death.
вқӨпёҸGypsy May was immediately put into our isolation unit and received 24hour veterinary and nursing care, fluid therapy, antibiotics, anti sickness and gastro protectants.
рҹ’ҷWe did all we could and just had to keep everything crossed she had enough fight left in her to recover.
вқӨпёҸWe are all over the moon that she is now well enough to leave the hospital and start the journey to look for her forever home.

When Louie came in to Victoria Blue Cross late last year, the staff took care of him and his little family before transferring him to the centre in Cambridge, which is where we adopted him. I couldn't be more grateful to them for taking him and his family in and giving them such good care. Truly think I've found a soulmate in him and hope his kittens and their mama are happy in their new homes пҝҪпҝҪ

My cat Tilly was treated by the blue cross for around a yr all the people we came in Contact with were so kind, we had Tilly put to sleep last week and everyone was so good we were not rushed such a sad time but these people are very special thank you for being there x

User

My 2 furbabies currently receive their treatment here and it is a great place, all charity run and definitely needed for those on benefits. The wait times can be quite high but it's understandable considering how many needy pets and their families come through the door. Keep up the great work :) x x

Just wanted to say thank you to the staff at the blue cross for all the help and care they gave to our beautiful cat Cobbles over the many years.

They were great and helpful in his declining years.

We had to say goodbye to him yesterday the receptionist, nurse and vet were all brilliant with us and him.

We got to spend time to say goodbye properly.

So many thanks to all who were there for him and us we appreciate it so much вҷҘпёҸTHANK YOU вҷҘпёҸ

Just visited the mobile pet van at Islington green what a great service you guys are amazing! But so angry at how some members of the public speak and act towards staff, it is truly shocking when you are providing a voluntary charity service they should be ashamed of themselves where else would they be able to get treatment for their pets

User

I want to thank the vet at the blue cross today, when my grandmother and me came in today, to put her much loved cat Cassie to sleep. I didnвҖҷt get the vets name, but she was a female and her kindness and compassion helped my nan so much at such a painful and traumatic time. Also a male receptionist and a volunteer took time to comfort and console my grandmother afterwards. Myself and my nan was both in bits afterwards and their kindness made such a sad day, that little bit more bearable. Thank you is not enough for what you did today пҝҪ

User

I feel sad reading some of the reviews and comments on this page. I feel so lucky to have access to a charity veterinary service whilst I am on reduced pay from work whilst off after surgery. I have an elderly dog who is my world- The first thing I panicked about with my reduction in pay was 'what would happen to my kia if she got poorly'. For the cynics, yes she is insured, but we have a list of exclusions the length of my arm.

Being able to got o the blue cross hospital is a privilege that people in may other areas - other countries too - don't have access to. There is no right to subsidised Veterinary care - but I am so so glad it's available. Today I was at the hospital and heard people in the waiting area complain about seeing students - WHAT?! i saw students today and they were fantastic. And you should be glad to have access to any kind of treatment for your pet! I saw another man sprawled out across seats asleep in the waiting area and missed being called 3 times by vet - wasting everyones time! So what if you have to wait a while, or it takes a bit of time at dispensary - don't forget how lucky you are tp have access to such an amazing service! I felt incredibly guilty about using it today and was put at ease by the wonderful staff there.

THANKYOU!!!

User

User

Amazing, caring and sympathetic. I had to rush my cat in an emergency they saw her straight away. Sadly we had to say goodbye but the patience and support I got from the staff that day helped me to make the right decision for my beloved ... R.I.P Soapy x

I cannot flaw the vet care, inpatient care, but you guys need to address the dispensary issue, and the sense of superiority some staff feel they have towards service users since they work for a charitable organisation. The dispensary is not a place to book further appointments, chat about Tiddles & Fido etc etc. People spend chatting with dispensary nurse for prolonged periods of time, and if someone complains we are being reminded by your staff to be grateful as 'you only pay ВЈ2', 'this is charity', 'you need to show some appreciation', 'we are so & so many million in debt'. Well bottlenecks at the dispensary & wait times of couple of hours with a sick pet is not exactly going to improve Blue Cross financial issues, and the rotten attitude of vet nurses as if they are doing the greatest favour in the universe (although my pets are being seen by vets to whom I have greatest respect & gratitude) is certainly not going to help to bring fund raising from current service users.

User

Utterly unimpressed (again) with the disgraceful behaviour of Blue Cross Victoria. They should be ashamed to call themselves a charity. I find it shocking that they can refused to treat sick animals pending production of proof of benefits when those people checking documentation are too poorly trained to understand that what they have before them is 'proof'. Surely to God if you are expecting staff to check entitlement, you train them properly to do so. The fact that they think that people with severe disabilities have got nothing better to do than to run back and forth to and from their surgery chasing documentation with sick animals in tow is disgraceful

User

They were rude, obnoxious and refused to see my dog who is extremely ill. They slammed doors, called us idiots and the male employee (George) tried to snatch my mothers phone out of my mums hand as she was making a complaint. The so called "manager" (Lisa) wouldn't even acknowledge my dog, who was on the floor shaking at the time. Only one of the staff were nice, but even she said that blue cross is a business and sees animals as commodities. They told us to contact a different hospital of which they gave us the number, and it has been shut down for years.

I am at the RSPCA now and everyone else who cares about their animals should take note and find a good animal hospital.

I have followed the formal complaints procedure and have contacted the relevant authorities. But as you are a "business" social relations seems the best way to contact you and your, quite frankly, unqualified staff.
