Recently we have successfully reunited several lost pets with their owners using our social media pages - however when lost pets have a micro-chip it makes it a much quicker and easier process to help them find their way home.
Sadly not all pets that are found straying are microchipped which means that reuniting them with their owners is often very difficult and sometimes impossible. A microchip is a permanent form of identification, as long as the details are kept up to date..., you can always be contacted if your pet goes missing. Without any identification they could end up in a rehoming centre like ours, rather than finding their way back to you.
By law all dogs should be microchipped - you could face a penalty fine if your dog isn't chipped.
Blue Cross microchips cats, dogs and rabbits for free, so if you need to get your pet chipped please do give us a call to make an appointment.

Evening suppawters, we've got two beautiful ex-racing Greyhounds looking for a comfy sofa to occupy! Both Maggie and Una could live with other dogs and children. Greyhounds make fantastic companions and are often referred to 'professional couch potatoes' due to their love of sleeping!
Find out here why greyhounds make such a lovely breed to own: https://www.bluecross.org.uk/…/why-grey hounds-and-lurchers-…

We are feeling very honoured to have a celebrity in our centre today - current resident Kai was part of a feature on BBC's The One Show last night where they advertised a few different rescue pets looking for homes!
Kai has been in our centre for over 80 days now, so we are all keeping our fingers crossed that he finds a home soon and hope that his new found fame doesn't go to his head!
Were you watching - did you see Kai's feature? Let us know in the comments!

Does anyone recognise this cat?
We've had an older Tabby cat brought into us today as a stray from the Tiverton area. We believe the cat is female and may have recently been to the vets, as she has shaved patches on her neck.
She is not microchipped and neuter status is unknown.
... Please do get in touch on 0300 777 1560, or email at tiverton@bluecross.org.uk if you know anything about this cat.
Please share to help us find this cats owners.

How cute are these pictures of Koala - now Freddie, and his new best friend? Freddie was rehomed from our centre in March - his new owners say "He is such a loving and playful cat and is most definitely my sons best friend! We look forward to many happy years with Freddie. Thank you"

We have had lots of pets going off to new homes recently - this weekend alone we said goobye to a pair of cats called Star and Stripes, two kittens (Twiglet and Walker) and four dogs - Bonnie, Kera, Lily and Lucky - all pictured We wish them all the best of luck in their new homes and look forward to hearing how they all get on!

At this time of year rescue centres often see an increase in the the number of kittens looking for new homes meaning lots of kittens joining new families!
If you are soon to be the proud owner of a new kitten or are thinking of adding one to your family, read our handy guide on what to do to prepare your home and family for your new arrival and how to keep them safe and happy after you have brought them home.
If you know anybody who is looking for a kitten or is due to rehome a new four legged friend tag them in this post or share it on your wall :)

**UPDATE: owner has now been found and hopefully will be collecting him tomorrow!!!😁**
On Sunday, one of our team members happened to be in Rewe just after a male cat had been hit by a car, and helped the drivers of the car take him to a vets to be treated. He got off very lightly, and is now at the centre with us.
Sadly, he does not have a microchip and is not neutered, aside from his injuries, he did have some ticks so we believe he may have been straying.
... No owners have been located around the area through knocking on doors, so please share in case we can find his owners if he does have any.
Thank you!

REUNITED AT LAST!
We posted last week about a stray cat that had been handed in to us from the Bampton area after living in a barn there since the start of the year. We received a message from somebody who thought it was their cat, Topsy, that had gone missing in that area over two years ago. They showed us some photos of their cat and sure it enough it was a match with the cat in our care.
Amazingly, Topsy’s owner had only just recently liked us on Facebook – they had start...ed following our page only two weeks ago to help a friend who was interested in rehoming a pet when they came across Topsy’s post – we think this is an incredible stroke of fate!
Topsy’s owners came to collect him this weekend – it was a very emotional and happy reunion! He is now happily settled back at home with his family after long last.
We gave Topsy a microchip before he left so if he chooses to go wandering again he will hopefully be reunited a lot quicker!
Thank you to everyone involved in helping reunite Topsy and his owners!

Hello Suppawters!
This time of year is always a busy one for kittens and we certainly enjoy having them here, but… Do you know what to do when you come across a stray kitten(s)? Should you leave them where they are or should you act quickly?
When finding orphaned kittens, a little detective work is often needed to see if mum is around before you act to avoid separating them from their mum unnecessarily. Here’s how to assess the situation:
... • Are the kittens sleeping comfortably? Are the kittens often found to be sleeping when you check? If yes, Mum is probably coming back for them. • When you re-check them, are any missing? If yes, Mum is probably in the process of moving them. • To be absolutely sure whether Mum is coming back or not, you can sprinkle flour around the area to check for her paw prints.
If you are sure that there is no Mum around, then please do give us a call on 0300 777 1560 to discuss the options moving forwards.
If they do have a Mum around and if she is friendly and approachable then it may be best to take her to the vets to check for a microchip first.
If you find an injured or sick kitten, then please do act urgently and take it straight to a vet or the RSPCA. Unfortunately, we don’t have a vet on site at all times, so won’t be able to provide immediate help.

Happy homing to Muffit the pom cross German Spitz who went home yesterday!
We wish him and his new owners and four legged friends all the best!

*EDIT* owners have been found and he will be going home soon- thank you so much for everyone that shared and helped us reunite him and his owners 😁
We have had a stray male black and white cat brought in to us from the Bampton area - this friendly boy took up residence in a barn at the start of the year. He unfortunately does not have a microchip so we are unable to trace any potential owners for him. If you have lost a cat that looks like him or know anyone that has please get in touch on 0300 777 1560 or tiverton@bluecross.org.uk so we can chat further
