This was an unexpected highlight of a weekend biking trip. Wasn't expecting such a deep cave and the tour guide really knew his stuff. Fascinating.

This Was The First Mine I Ever Been Down And I Was Aged 5 yrs old In 1966, I Was Amazed Of The Blue John Crystal Looked With It's Deep Purple Colours Sparkling From The Lights In The Cavern And As We Walked Down To Bottom Of The Cavern It Was Like Entering Another World, I Thought Their Was A Rowing Boat That Took You Through A Dark Tunnel, And Then We Got Back To The Surface And Went To The Gift Shop

You need to be fit to venture down the 300 plus steps into the caves. The guides are brilliant and it's a lot safer now than on my previous visit in 1970 with wooden stairs then and no anti slip grips. The Blue John Seam at the bottom is not a massive sparkling gem conglomeration so temper your expectations. It is a however unique and worthwhile experience. The shop sells lots of interesting artefacts including specimens of rocks and countless souvenirs.

A fascinating tour of the caverns. Our guide was very informative. Kids (age 7-12) enjoyed it too. 250 steps but done in chunks so doable unless infirm/very unfit.

Amazing place to visit. walking or by car. We went by car, we parked near the cavern. The staff were friendly, we received the right information. Our tour guide was excellent guide. He knew the story, also he works extracting the precious stone when the visiting peak decreases. He also speaks German, and the funny bit was "my fiance from Germany couldn't understand his High German" I couldn't stop laughing! in our group were kids from 7-9 and they could manage the 240 stairs down another 240 stairs up! in the cavern the temperature drops down to approx. 10 degrees in Summer. I advice to take a waterproof jacket, you will fill the water drops.

The Cavern is worth visiting if you are in the area. However the gents need to be updated!! Outside urinal and no sink to wash hands. I used the ladies sink 😂

Really interesting tour around one of the Peak District's most prolific caverns. I was a bit worried that I would enjoy the tour more than my partner but he was like a little boy exploring. Both loved it and would highly recommend. The knowledge of our tour guide was brilliant and all staff were welcoming.
