Blue Talking Therapies Description
The aim of CBT is to understand our reactions to certain situations as a result of the way we think about them and understand how this may be linked to the maintenance of certain feelings.
So for example, often we wonder why we feel anxious in certain situations. By understanding this using a CBT approach, we begin to understand what brings about the feelings and what keeps them going. By understanding this, we can learn ways to make changes to this “cycle” and move forward with alternative approaches.
CBT is a present focused therapy and so guides us to focus upon current problem areas and making changes from here on in to the future.
