Bluebell Railway Carriage Shop Description

The Bluebell Railway Carriage Shop is located on Platform 1 of the beautiful Horsted Keynes Station. Open throughout the year on most Saturdays, Sundays & Bank holidays 11. 00 until 16. 00, with extended opening on some special events.

The Shop primarily stocks previously owned Railway & Transport Books and Magazines. All second hand books are in good condition with some harder to find titles that are now out of print.
There is also; a large selection of Railway Photographs, OO Model Railway Locomotives, Carriages, Wagons and Track, Model Cars & Buses, Transport DVDs and many other Railway & Transport items.

In its 25 + year existence Carriage Shop proceeds have helped to fund many worthwhile projects across The Bluebell Railway. Previously donations have been made to; Carriage & Wagons Restorations, Waste removal at Imberhorne Cutting, Operation Undercover, Canopy restoration at Horsted Keynes, Re-surfacing of the dock outside the Carriage Workshops and many other smaller ventures that may never have been able to get started.

Many of the goods sold come from generous donations and we will always be pleased to accept any Railway related items on our normal opening hours.

If you are taking a trip to the Bluebell Railway or want to source that hard to find book or magazine at a reasonable price one of our volunteers will be pleased to welcome you to the Carriage Shop, so please do come to see us.

Some impressive loco's and rollingstock still would have been even better when you could have travelled from London to Lewes, as the old station signs indicated another Beeching F*** Up.

The Engine shed had some fine old beasts, including a 9F and a West country.

Bittern A4 and Cheltenham schools superb, Carriage shop was truly1st class so were all the staff, steam always beats Diesel, and Diesel always beats these crap new electric things.

If only the current southern trains looked half as good as your setup, they are very poor in comparison nasty plastic things that make my countless scale models look like masterpieces!

All in all a hell of a good day out 01/11/15 for my Old Man and I and a fitting day out.

User

Great day out with the family or on your own enjoying the chuff chuffs.
