A great turn out, some good rugby and generally a lot of laughs had by all - here's some photos from Sundays Club game! Congratulations to everyone who got involved - it was amazing to see so many people turn out. If anyone who played who's played before has had their appetite whet and wants to get back into it, let the Club know. If you're looking at the pictures thinking "that looks like something I'd want to have a go at", message us on here or email the Club at blythrugbyclub@gmail.com for more information. BLYTH RFC

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the month, we've had all creatures stirring with our nostalgic bumf! It is the last of our Calendar posts for Christmas and we hope you have enjoyed our walk down memory lane as much as we have. We're going to finish with some of the pictures we've just not had time to fit in during the month - and the truth is, there are hundreds and hundreds of pictures and news clippings out there celebrating all that is great about our Club and everything that makes us all proud to be associated with the place. From humble beginnings, to false dawns and rebirths, to where we are now, we are only as great as the people who give up their time to support us. To all of our friends, members, supporters, volunteers and everyone else, have a wonderful Christmas. Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night

A bit of a late one today, but here's two cricket pics from fairly recent years for our penultimate advent calendar post!

As always happens, the cricket season ends as the rugby season begins and day 22 of the Club calendar is an article from September 1976, celebrating Blyth Cricket Clubs Second XI as champions and reporting on a defeat for Blyth RFC...a rare moment where both sides are mentioned together in the local news.

For all those who have bought tickets for Mel and Pat Armstrongs annual Christmas beer draw, here are the results! Thanks for all your efforts again this year. We will also provide a boiler fund update from today, last nights quiz and the 'boiler party' once we know. You guys are amazing, and it just goes to show how much you all love and appreciate your club. Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Day 21 and as we get nearer to Christmas and the festive parties are in full swing, today's post is a celebration of celebrations! Whether that be dressing up, dinners or general debauchery, here's a few pictures from down the years...😂🥂🍻

For today's post we stay with the Cricket section and have fast forwarded 7 years to 1976 and a story from the News Post Leader about the junior cricket section and their News Post sponsored Cricketer of the year story...as with anything from this era, there's some canny old haircuts there....

Day 19 of the Blyth Rugby and Cricket Club calendar and we looked back on the Rugby section yesterday, winning handsomely, almost 50 years to the day and we're staying in the same year with a squad picture of Blyth Cricket Club, following the end of their 1969 season.

Day 18 of the Advent Calendar and after being on the wrong end of a spanking at the weekend, 50 years ago, Blyth RFC had been dishing out a fairly comprehensive drubbing of their own, as reported by the Blyth News on this day in 1969. Although we were unable to find the exact team line up for this particular game, a week later two games were arranged with teams published in the Blyth News.

The Just Giving page is still going strong, we've now raised over £7.5k towards our target, which is amazing!!! Thank you all so much!! Click the link and visit the page, if you would like to donate 😁

It's day 17 of the Club calendar and more of a story for Halloween, than for Christmas - although this could certainly be a case of ghosts from the past. Some people say that the Club has a certain strange feeling to it, when in there on their own...it could be James W McNally, a single man and native of Darlington. James was the long time groundsman of the Cricket Club and also a former player, who was found hanged in the pavilion of the Cricket Ground at Plessey Road in 1923. The story made the papers nationally and here's a few clippings of the story...

Following a complete lapse in standards, the editor totally forgot to update our Advent Calendar on days 14 and 15!! Day 16 has arrived though, and it's back to normality and looking back on a past-time many of the Club's members have indulged in...Cycling. Two wheel trips have been a long standing tradition, with a once yearly Club bike ride around the local pubs that has now mutated into an annual cycling challenge. Up and down and across the country, our members have covered many hundreds of miles in the last few years, raising lots of money for various charities and spending a weekend inflicting untold damage on their livers and their sanity....
