Meet the team #4: Nick Watts
Nick is a Solicitor in our Commercial team here at Blythe Liggins and has been since 2010, and for most of that time, he has also been a member of the firm’s Marketing Committee. He qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and spent over 10 years at another Warwickshire based firm where he was a partner for a number of years.
Having been advising business clients for over 15 years, Nick’s experience and detailed knowledge of property and commercial matte...rs gives him a sound understanding of the challenges facing businesses today, whatever their size. He aims to find solutions to whatever problems may arise to ensure his client achieves what they set out to do.
Nick is also part of the firm’s Sports Law Unit which advises various sporting clubs, organisations and individuals. Nick has acted for the Amateur Swimming Association/British Swimming for a number of years and has also advised Bowls England. He was also part of the Blythe Liggins team behind the setting up of the Rugby Coaches Association and the Elite Cricket Coaches Association.
Nick lives locally and is married with twins. In his spare time he has many sporting interests including watching football and rugby, playing golf and is involved in the coaching of his son’s football and cricket teams.
What our clients say: “By the end of the process, it felt as though Nick had become our own in-house lawyer as he had taken on board our practical requirements as well as our legal needs and got to grips with what we really needed, and helped us make commercial decisions.” #team #blytheliggins #leamingtonspa #solicitors

Blythe Liggins Blog: 'Your Rights when it comes to your Medical Records'
People are often unaware whether or not they are entitled to see their own medical notes. They may want to check something in their medical history or find out what medication they have taken in the past. They may even be considering a case against their doctor and want a specialist solicitor to review their records prior to taking any further action.

Blythe Liggins Blog: 'What can I do about my overhanging branches?' As Spring is officially upon us and the growing season the problem of branches of both trees and shrubs extending onto an adjoining property arises.
The basic legal position is that a tree or shrub will remain in the ownership of the land on which it was planted even when its trunk, roots or branches extend onto an adjoining property. However technically the encroachment of branches or roots of trees or shrubs from neighbouring land is a nuisance and if actual damage is caused by the offending branches or roots then a civil action will lie in nuisance against the owner of the trees or shrubs.
