Watch out for Billie Mallet's August exhibition at the Boatyard Cafe. This summer we are in for a treat with lots of her work inspired by a trip to New Zealand.
Mallet's life is lived in halves, separated by miles, but joined by similarities. Colour, shapes, form and tonal drama, all on the two dimensional painted surface. New Zealand leaks into UK and UK finds its way into New Zealand. Come and see her latest work, up for the third year running at Boatyard Bakery.
Exhibition open 1st - 31st August during cafe hours seven days a week.

We can't quite believe we have hit our second birthday. It has been such a journey over the last few years and we want to thank all of our customers old, new and the trusty regulars, we wouldn't be here without your wonderful support. We even managed to stay awake long enough for a party tonight! Anna here with the lovely cake thoroughly enjoyed by everyone this evening. Here's to the next two years! When you make so many hot cross buns you can't even fit them on the table. Time for a bigger table maybe? 😅 Today is the penultimate day you can get them hot and fresh from the bakery. Easter is finally here and it is feeling rather spring like today. 🐰🐣🌷

Absolutely wonderful sourdoughs today even if we do say so ourselves. This is our 1.5 kilo catering sized pain au levain fresh from the oven this morning. We deliver this around the city and quayside 6 days a week! 😁

Busy making Brewer’s bread dough. Our lovely sourdough using spent grain from Topsham Brewery, neighbours across the canal. It’s totally delicious and a great way to celebrate Real Brqad Week.

CHRISTMAS OPENING TIMES we are closing at 2pm on Christmas Eve for two days to spend time with our families. Just like everyone else. Re-open Thursday 27th December. Closed 1st January. Re-open 2nd January at 9am.

This is Adam, our cafe manager who also makes wonderful pizzas and tonight some very lucky people from the SW RSPB conservation team are going to be enjoying them here at the Boatyard Cafe. Look out for some weekend specials coming up this autumn.

Not my usual photos but just to prove that even Emma gets a holiday. Not exactly warm up here in Orkney but been learning new skills about sheep handling. Staying with friends who have beautiful rare breed North Ronaldsays, a hardy little animal who relish eating seaweed and seem oblivious to Storm Ali. Check out Isleofauskerry.com

Very pleased to be part of Exeter Street arts festival today with some lovely pianists playing in the Boatyard Cafe. Come down and listen to some sublime live music along with great coffee from Exe Coffee Roasters and the Bakery's freshly baked goodies.
IMPORTANT - we will be closed all day on Sunday 27th August as we want a day off too! Open as usual on Monday 28th.

We have a fabulous new exhibition on the walls with images by illustrator Gordon Hurden. Knock out, colourful images of our favourite birds. And it's actually quite cool in the bakery as long as you are not near the oven!
