Stayed recently in the pods and enjoyed every minute of it with friends and family. Only downside was the arrogant old woman who talked down to you and thought she was better than anyone. The comments she made to my partner and friends really were not acceptable ( plot s42 i believe she stayed in )

We visited this site over august bank holiday weekend with a touring caravan. First impressions were that the site was very compact. Our pitch was on a steeply sloping hill with a very narrow service road which made it really tricky to site the caravan. The pitches also felt very tightly packed in.

The site itself appears to be well managed. It's clean and tidy and the staff seem to be helpful.

There's a small football court with artificial grass that keeps children entertained along with a playground an a zip line. Note: this makes it a good site for families with young children, perhaps less so for those looking for tranquility.

Note for those visiting with a caravan: there are three routes to the entrance to the site, two of which are "unsuitable for caravans"! Take the route that comes from the northern side (down Birkland Lane from Sunniside)

This site has its positives:
- great for families with young children
- great location for visiting Beamish museum

... And its negatives:
- hilly
- expensive (showers are on top of the high pitch fee, kids are extra)
- high pitch density

We have the perfect place at Bobbies Shaftos- beautiful location with fabulous views and really well maintained. Everyone's friendly and welcoming - peaceful and a marvellous place to see and visit some amazing historical locations.

Facilities bad pitches small and uneven place looked unloved broken fences and old statics needs some tlc and it would be a nice site. Disabled shower broken have to pay for showers shop doesn't open till 9 am far too late to get shower tokens or milk for breakfast. Club house more of a shed really no where to sit no place for kids to dance toilet block long walk from touring pitches it's right in the middle of static caravans who don't use it. Oh and it's on top of a big windy hill very windy up there for tents. 2 * because of its location to beamish perfect a few minutes drive.

Had two great nights at this campsite and then came the weekend. A large group rocked up and basically followed no rules showed no respect excessively loud distorted music all night car engines on and off with headlights shining into others tents all through night intermittently shouting and swearing 24 hours and throwing up asking for drugs told campsite about it Friday night they said not acceptable they would have a word but it was worse on Saturday when complaints were made shoulders were shrugged and there was no apology. Only care about getting your money not about your quality of stay

Well kept site with great staff who couldn't do enough for you. The prices are a bit steep for the facilities on offer compared to other sites I've been on but there are so few in this area. Be warned that if you like to leave the site and you don't have a vehicle then you'll have to be pretty fit to get up the hill to the local pub (which is way more than 400 metres away btw).
