Bodmin Jail is a unique heritage asset, which has been allowed to decay until its present ownership. We are ploughing all the revenue from entrance fees and profits from the shop and business as a whole back into the Jail with an extensive plan to revive this infamous Jail; by replacing roofs, internal structures and showing the cells as they once were, whilst also incorporating a fascinating museum of Cornish penal life over the last three centuries.
Our vision is to take the Jail ‚ÄúBack to the Future‚ÄĚ where it will become the thriving, vibrant mirror image of the past, a legacy of Cornish history for all to enjoy, a truly memorable day out! Helping Bodmin town, once the capital of Cornwall, to become the rightful historic capital again.

Dog Lead ‚Äď Please use a short lead when adventuring around the Jail, a short lead maximises the amount of control you have over your dog ūüź∂
Dog water ‚Äď We do have dog watering bowls stationed around the courtyard, we also have a water station for humans to!ūüöį
... Dog Areas ‚Äď Dogs are not allowed in The Governors Hall Restaurant however our Tearoom is a dog friendly zone in the Jail! ūüĎ®ūüź∂ūüĎĪ‚Äć‚ôÄÔłŹ
Peak Times ‚Äď If you do have a nervous dog but would like to bring him/her to Bodmin Jail our peak times in the summer are 10am ‚Äď 3pm, visiting the Jail outside of these hours may help you avoid a busy Jail ūü§©
