Our Guest Chef Series returns on the 18th of July as we welcome acclaimed chef Leandro Carreira to our Soho kitchen. Get close to the action as Leandro takes over the grill with his unique approach to seafood.
Born and raised in Leiria, Portugal, Leandro began his career working in restaurants in Lisbon before travelling around the Basque country and the Middle East, eventually settling in London. Leo started out at Andoni Luis Aduriz’s famed Mugaritz, before coming to London... and working at Nuno Mendes’ Viajante as Head Chef, and later at Lyle’s and Koya.
A year-long residency at Climpson’s Arch in Hackney’s London Fields in 2016 saw Leandro take a break from fine-dining, where he showcased the ingredients and traditions of regional Portugal through a new lens. Londrino, the Portuguese word for Londoner, is Leandro’s first restaurant, which launched in December 2017. Leandro's cooking style here observes the flavours, traditions and ingredients from his native Portugal, through the eyes of a chef that now calls London home.
Expect big flavours and creative twists on classic british seafood as Leandro culminates his culinary influences at his July Guest Chef takeover.
Bookings now open for Wednesday 18th July.
Advanced tickets required.

James Cochran joins us at Bonnie Gull Soho, Wednesday 16th May to launch the first in a series of guest chef take-overs.
At the heart of James Cochran’s cooking style is an exciting cuisine of Scottish and Jamaican influences prepared from fresh British produce. His farm to table ethos reflects his respect for regional culinary heritage and quality ingredients.
For May James has developed an exciting menu featuring fresh British seafood, cooked on our charcoal grill, with fla...vours inspired by Scottish and Jamaican flavours.
Having grown up in Whitstable, Kent with his first kitchen stint at Wheeler's Oyster Bar, James went on to gain experience at The Ledbury and later The Harwood Arms. Since, James has fronted a number of his own pop-up restaurants around London. Talking about his cooking style James explains "I'm half Scottish and half Vincentian and I was brought up in Whitstable, so I try to blend all three of those things into my cooking style. That means you'll find Orkney scallops on my menu, alongside Whitstable rock oysters, and I coat my signature jerk chicken in my very own Vincentian spice blend."
Get close to the action to see these top chefs take to the grill at Bateman St, cooking our fresh British seafood with their own unique approach.

User

Went to the champagne brunch here. Couldn't fault it. The food was impeccable and beautifully presented. I never knew there was such variety in champagne. Really enjoyed hearing about and tasting each one, with plenty of time to savour the food, drink and company over a leisurely brunch.

We live in Birmingham and try and get down to London at least 4 time each year and we make a beeline to Bonnie Gulls. We love, love, love this restaurant. Fab food and service to match. Menu cganges regularly to accoodate seasonal changes in availability. They do the best tempura oyster starter that I have ever had. Small and cosy with a nice outdoor area for when it is warmer. Great to hear that you might roll out your new Fish and Chip restaurant nationwide.......hope Birmingham might be included in that.

The choice of oysters was impressive and delicious.

User

The Fitzrovia restaurant is small and intimate, with friendly staff. The food is utterly sublime. I have eaten at Michelin star restaurants and have seldom tasted better. Unpretentious and beautifully cooked, it is a celebration of beautiful ingredients from the seas around the British Isles

User

The Fitzrovia restaurant is a very nice, peaceful and cozy place. Excellent food, great value, honest price. And the staff is so lovely!

User

Seafood is my passion! So that's a good start. I cannot fault this place, (no pun intended) absolutely delicious! Everything we had was fresh and tasty. Excellent service too!

User

Excellent food, quiet place, a really nice surprise

User

Amazing service from your staff, very attentive. Great food (scrap that - absolutely delicious food) and pairs well with the wine on offer. Definitely would recommend to all seafood lovers!

User

Simply very very good ..! Surprise me of having the seafood plaster in English style with the English catch..!👍🏻🍀

Of course my Top pick and recommendation - tempura oysters ..

User

the crab dish on the table at our back is huge and seems nice! have to try it next time. The fish and chips i had is huge in size and the fish is fresh, nice

User

Very disappointed Cullen skink was terrible just powdery cream sauce with random fish cuttings no flavour at all. Main was again pretty tasteless fare and portions were sized for a diet.

Very annoying when they pre-add 12.5% service charge for nothing special at all, indeed the dealt very poorly when I was honest about the Cullen skink. Can only think Thursday is the chefs night off.
