Free entry! Saturday 9 March, 9.30am-5pm, Bourne Hall, Ewell
Join in to enjoy free family fun and activities at this annual spring event on Saturday 9 March from 9.30am to 5pm at Bourne Hall, Spring Street, Ewell. Children are invited to come dressed as their favourite superhero with prizes up for grabs for the best-dressed superhero...es!
An annual event since the 1970s, this year's Herald of Spring, features beautiful floral displays by local flower arrangers and a show garden from Ashtead Park Garden Centre. Visitors will also have the chance to - discover more about the borough's plentiful open spaces with presentations by local countryside groups, visit What's On In Epsom's Spring Market with locally produced jam, arts and crafts or enjoy tea and cake in the Coffee Shop.
Children will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities on the day – courtesy of the Rainbow Leisure Centre and Hobbledown. Close Up Magic will be there performing trickery and sleight of hand and Bourne Hall Museum Kids Club will showcase heroic Viking sagas.
Plus, children dressed up as superheroes on the day can take part in the 'Great Superheroes fancy dress competition' for age groups - up to 5 years, 6 to 9 years and 10 years upwards. The Mayor of Epsom and Ewell will judge the competition at 2pm and the winners will receive Amazon gift vouchers of Β£30 (first prize), Β£20 (second prize) and Β£10 (third prize).
Herald of Spring is in association with Ashtead Park Garden Centre and supported by Hobbledown, What's On In Epsom, Better, The Close Up Show and Bourne Hall Museum Kids Club.
Councillor Barry Nash, Chairman of the Council's Community and Wellbeing Committee said, "Herald of Spring offers something for everyone, with free family fun and activities. Do join in and get involved in this popular community event and don't forget to dress your kids in their favourite superhero costume for a chance to win an exciting prize! Hope to see you there."
