Bournemouth University Peer Assisted Learning
About Bournemouth University Peer Assisted Learning
Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a scheme that fosters cross-year support between students on the same course.
Bournemouth University Peer Assisted Learning Description
PAL encourages students to support each other and to learn cooperatively under the guidance of trained students, called PAL Leaders, from the year above. Your PAL Leaders have just survived their first year and were in the same shoes as you this time last year.
What is a PAL Session?
After training, PAL Leaders will facilitate regular study support sessions for groups of first year students.
PAL sessions are planned, structured, and friendly.
PAL Leaders do not teach – they facilitate discussion /share experiences.
The emphasis is on everyone working cooperatively to develop their understanding.
Content for PAL sessions is based on existing course materials - handouts, notes, textbooks and set reading.
Leaders are here to focus on what you as a seminar group would like to cover.
