Just recovering from my 50th birthday party, held in the function room. private bar, great food and lovely staff. we had our own band, skint, and had a fantastic night. Thanks to all involved. we do also go there regularly for eating mainly but they have a lovely secret garden and outside areas to just drink in in the summer. Never had a bad time there x

Great family friendly pub that creates an atmosphere for all to relax in any time of day. Grace is the most attentive bartender who always gives a personable experience to the customers always ensuring a prompt service at the bar. Food is good but could sometimes arrive a little sooner but when you enjoy the experience with friends it’s really not a big issue.

User

Been wanting to visit this pub for years and we were not disappointed! Absolutely fantastic food and great service. Special mention has to go to the lady with blonde hair waiting on at the rear of the pub, didn’t catch her name, best service I’ve received in a long time!!!

Really comfy bench sofas and loved the bowling green out back. Will definitely be returning even if I have to wear my jogging bottoms to prepare for the inevitable food baby.

User

Despite it being Father's day and serving 30 of us in the function room I thought the pre ordered food arrived together. Generous portions served by polite staff. The only problem on our table was a tomato and cheese flat bread instead of the chicken and bacon one that had been ordered. Found the manager (Moses) was extremely cooperative even to supplying us with a connection to the projector to view old family photos.

User

We had visited the week before on the Friday and the service was fab, as was the food! This led us to revisit on Saturday night with my daughter and her husband. Again service was excellent, we were told there was a 40 min wait for food which there was and this was fine. Sadly the food was not as great as the previous week. The chips were well over cooked, salmon very chargrilled and should of been on bed of crushed potatoes but served with new potatoes instead.

Big difference in portion size of chips per person.

No boar burgers which was disappointing too.

Couldn’t fault the service though, staff very attentive and the boss looked after us too.

Just put it down to a very busy night and certainly won’t stop us from going again.

The week before I would have scored them a 5 star!

User

Lovely setting for a drink or a meal .As a regular in here I have to say that due to the amazing weather we are experiencing the service levels are dropping rapidly .There seems to be a lack of staff behind the bar serving ,as experienced staff are busy collecting all the empty glasses and plates etc from outside .On my visit yesterday you could see this was having an effect on the staff serving behind the bar .The normally happy ,welcoming staff looked moody and totally fed up .Wont put me off going again but could easily be put right by employing some short term staff to collect glasses and clean tables down .Plenty of young people with the summer off after taking their exams would jump at the chance to earn some cash .

User

If there’s going to be a 45 min wait on food it’s sensible to tell customers before they order drinks and pay. Me and my partner came in and ordered at 1:38pm just before a 3pm appointment to have a quick bite to eat. If we were told at the point of ordering before we paid that there would be a long wait for food we would have gone somewhere else as not to risk being late for our appointment. Quality of food doesn’t really matter if you have to wolf it down in 15 minutes. Due to this I wasn’t relaxed and the slow service only made me more on edge. 1:38pm we ordered it’s now 2:22pm and still no sign of food.

Edit; taken from 2 star to 3 because my sweet potato fries were amazing and the waiter who brought us our food was very tentative.

User

I have chosen to give a 3star other wise I would have given 4.5 rating, only because when my daughter's meal, arrived ,out the kitchen it had a black human hair stuck on the pineapple on her gammon, what I will say is the staff quickly replaced her meal with another meal which was plentiful and spot on, my meal was ok, my wife would have liked some chips with her cottage pie main meal, as all it was was cottage pie and a small amount of veg, to be fair chips cost literally pennies to buy frozen so six or seven chips on the plate would of made the meal so more impressive for a liittle cost. On a high note the puddings we had were fantastic fudge brownie and hot custard, fabulous flavours. The bar staff offered a refund on my daughters meal too, but I could not be bothered to que at the bar for refund as it was very busy. The pub is very pleasent inside with nice decor.

User

Food was not very nice at all all came out at separate time and was cold not impressed wont be ordering food again spend a long time out the bar waiting to be served needs more staff behind the bar....

User

Visited a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday evening , we had booked a table and although it was very busy , the staff were very attentitive , so re visiting last might I was disappointed , I ordered rump steak ,but it was thin and grisly , and no one inquired if our meals were ok , if they had, I would have queried which steak I had been given ? Also not asked if we would like desserts when plates were cleared away , pub was not overly busy as it was only 5pm so don’t know why the lack of interest from the staff ??

User

The starter was ok, food was bought out 40 minutes after the starter and was over cooked, ordered a medium steak and it came out more well done, the lasagne was burnt to the bowl, the burgers were over cooked and really chewy, puddings were by far the best part of the meal, staff were polite tho

User

I visited to bowling green on Thursday the 7 June

I’d pre booked table for

26 people it was a celebrate of the running club doing the London marathon and Liverpool marathon The service was second to none and the food was amazing

The staff was so kind

Especially the lady that was running in and out with orders true the night I can’t remember her name but she Took my order for the 26 people on Sunday

Previase

Lovely lady’s I had to take some flowers in for her to say thank you

As we all had a lovely evening

I’ll be going back again 👍

User

Food took a very long time to arrive. Nachos were obviously prepared prior to our other starters, the cheese was ‘welded’ to everything else. Main meals took an hour and ten minutes to arrive. Ordered a Pepsi (full fat) got a Pepsi max, this is not what I asked for, yes I agree with sugar tax, but put the tax on and give me back my choice!! Phone was ringing ‘off the hook’, was a cordless one that had just been abandoned on a unit in the dining area, if they’ve not got enough staff to answer the phone and get food served in a reasonable timeframe, get more staff.

User

Been for food numerous times and always been very good. Not been in a while so decided to give it a visit. Unfortunately things have gone downhill and the food we had was over or undercooked, portion sizes were on the small side and presentation was shocking. The evening was salvaged by a half decent selection of ales but we won't be back for food.

User

Not enough staff on bar, not serving people in order of waiting. Table not clean from previous people even though available. Not enough cutlery. Asked for serviettes and still didn’t get any. Friend had a long blonde hair on the top of her fish and chips. Toilets are a disgrace. Absolutely filthy. Wouldn’t go again in a hurry!

User

Nice pub and beer garden. Unfortunately this pub never has enough staff working, especially during the evening. Expect a 20 minute wait at the bar and 40 plus minute wait for food. The staff will walk happily past empty glasses in the beer garden.

My daughter went to meet her friend at this pub at 3pm last Thursday afternoon as she is 18 and was driving she asked for a diet coke and so did her friend..the person serving behind the bar asked her for identification or else she would have to leave? For a coke.? Tried talking to the staff at this pub but just got an attitude of..."there's two sides to every story"..

User

I have been here twice in the past few months and on both occasions the food was very very slow to get to the table - in my opinion u need more staff in the kitchen (we won’t be going again)
