Great beer (brewed on-site), easy parking, menu looked interesting although I didn't eat

Fantastic location, great view. Evening meals good. Staff let the place down with lack of attention to detail eg. Having to ask for menus, not lighting candles on tables, audible complaining to each other that it was busy even though plenty of staff. Mostly friendly but never made us feel really welcome. Shambolic Sunday breakfast. All guests expecting 8.15/8.30 breakfast. Place in lock down. 1st member of staff just said 9am breakfast though nowhere written or stated. No apology from young waitress who was blatantly rude and unpleasant to a number of guests nor manager even when shown written info from establishment stating 8.15 breakfast. Will not return despite location.

After a long day walking the wife and I attended the Brackenrigg Inn for some food.
The food was brilliant and the service was good. All the food appears home made and very tasty... In particular the chicken Kiev. We will be returning in the future to explore the rest of the menu!
To note they also brew their own beer and as a result have a good selection.

We went two days in a row to the Brackenrigg Inn- the food was so good the first night we didn't want to risk going nowhere else the second night!! They had a little wood fire going and the views of the mountain range from the window are amazing. My boyfriend likes home brew and ales (all that) so he was in his element here with the drinks on offer and and I tried some local gin recommended. All round lovely place with food averaging £10-14 a meal but really good portion sizes and very nice food & drink. If we come back here next year, we will definitely pop in for fish and chips and a home brew!

Great location with nice views. Their own brewed beer was good. The staff were pleasant though could offer more advice on the local area for tourists - there were plenty of leaflets but we asked for some walking tips and they didn't have much to say.
The food is standard for the area.
We stayed in the standard double - small bathroom but had everything we needed.

We only stayed for one drink but the service was great, really friendly. The food smelled and looked delicious. Will be back next time we're in the area

Very pleasant and friendly staff, food good,a bit pricey but this is the Lake District, in keeping with tourist prices. Excellent own brew real ale. Best of all dog friendly, with a lovely open fire to warm the dog up after a day on the fells. Recommended.

Dog friendly accommodation, couldn't complain at all about the stay, the people and the area. Restaurant and bar with brewery on site, only had breakfast with them which our dog was allowed to join us in the bar area. Nice people who deserve more custom.

Overall not a bad place to stay, rooms were comfortable and staff were polite. It would be nicevto run the hot water without the boiler waking the entire place. If the owners were able to get a cash injection to tidy a few areas up it would help
