Breadth and how the curriculum is taught and delivered – pedagogy – are key.”

"I hope that in the future today’s pupils will share their talents with the world, come back to school, and continue to help it flourish. The teachers are incredibly inspiring – and I urge all the students to try and keep in touch with the school.”
Went to watch my son at a rugby match. The hospitality was 2nd to non I have experienced this year
Went to the drama production Live like Pigs on a Friday evening which was excellent. Tuesday attended the Chamber concert which again showcased the extremely talented pupils in a beautiful setting. Well done to all involved
Watched an excellent production of Live Like Pigs by John Arden.
This school is amazing especially in the large Hall where I watched Mozart's Requiem last night. :)
The Spring Concert yesterday was as beautiful as ever! Thank you Clock House :)
My late father was educated there before the 2nd World War and went on to join the 1st Division of the Welsh Guards
Like my own Hogwarts..... Truly magical years spent there in the 80s and 90s. Left myself and my peers in a great position for life.
Fantastic school buildings and facilities . Enjoyed my day there tremendously.
Are school days the best days of our life?
Obviously, for some they are and for others not so. I remember my days as amongst the fondest! So much so that I still use my picture for my facebook profile.
While I have very fond memories of spending Wednesday afternoons (which I understand have been axed in favour of more lessons) doing drama, of involvement in the debating society and spending time with my friends, what really stuck with me after I left at the end of 5th year was the stress BGS' absurd amount of work left with me. We had so much work piled onto us that even after sacrificing my normal sleeping pattern to accommodate it while still having time to do things I enjoyed outside of school hours, I was still behind on my work for most subjects. I was not behind in terms of understanding - I left BGS with 5 A's and 5 A*'s at GCSE and produced poor-quality work on only the rarest of occasions - but there was just far too much work for me to feasibly do in the time allocated. Because of this I constantly had teachers breathing down my neck about the work I had not done, and indeed could not have done without sacrificing every ounce of my free time and social life. It didn't stop when I went home either: because I ended up in trouble with teachers for work I had not done, complaints were sent on to my parents and I was left in a situation where the most comfortable I felt was in the sickening limbo of lunchtime breaks, as they were the only periods of time in which I didn't feel immediately threatened by teachers or my parents.
So, all in all, BGS was a pretty awful experience. The only reason I give it a second star is because of the high standard of the extra-curricular opportunities it provides, or at least provided while I was there. Unless you want your child to be so jacked up on adrenaline at all times from constantly being in stress-induced fight-or-flight mode that they jump when somebody sneezes, don't send them here.
Would love to give more but after my dyslexic daughter emailed a tutor on first day of Christmas Holiday who had said before they would help with University interviews to say I have one day before we are back.
Was quizzed by email as to if real or come and meet session said yes real and I need to give a presentation
Reply was " Oh you have whole of Christmas to sort it " and end of conversation
Really not what we pay the fees for
Have called in friends to help if she is offered the place it will be no thanks to school.
So wish they had helped before but as it is not for Oxford or Cambridge then she is on her own.
I could say how well she is doing and pleased she goes but right now all i feel is " Don't send your Child " they don't care
Soul destroying and barbaric
