We went in today with our two littles with special needs . Excellent staff who interacted wonderfully with our two littles and good food .

User

We had an excellent meal last night. Very efficient, quickly found a table for us on a busy Saturday night. Not long for our meal and freshly cooked and hot with great service. Well done!!

User

Our regular monthly stop before travelling down to support the Netball Superleague games at Loughborough. We had a bad meal recently and within minutes of taking our complaint the management and staff were excellent, fresh meals were cooked to the usual high standard we know and drinks were offered. We will definitely be back for our next pre-game meal.

User

Nice friendly staff and a good choice of meals, they also do some lighter meals, less than 600 calories, so good for those who are trying to eat healthy!

User

Ignore the bad reviews! We went for Sunday lunch, I had carvery and my partner had a mixed grill. Couldn’t fault the food at all it was gorgeous. The service and staff were really friendly and helpful too. Will definitely be returning

User

All staff very friendly and helpful. Had lunch and evening meal there as we were staying the Derbyshire hotel. Would definitely recommend.

Myself and my wife visit the castlewood at least once each week.. I usually book a table and we have been having food off the daytime special section of the menu because it is very good value for money and although the choice is limited there is more than enough choice..we have 3 courses and without a drink you know this will cost around £17 in total for the 2 of us..the staff are always courteous and happy to get you another drink if you are eating..downside is a lack of barstaff but sometimes it's not a problem..food is usually ok and so far we have had no issues..I would say don't take too much notice of the negative comments just go and try it for yourself..just make sure you book a table.i always do sometimes only a couple of hours in advance via the website...I've not had any issues with the staff being rude they are very helpful..

User

Great breakfast selection at a very reasonable price considering the quality of some of the ingredients. Fruit and yogurt selection was good with top up of favourites.

Toast, pancakes, crumpets and miniature muffins also available with a great bottomless ‘Costa’ coffee. Brilliant

User

Good food, tables could do with cleaning a bit more though. To be fair it was heaving and staff were very good. No doubt staffing was dictated by the company and not by the manager

User

Came for breakfast on sunday. 3 adults and 3 children. Alot have said 8.99 is alot for a breakfast but it includes cereals, pancakes, muffins, fruit, yougurt, toast, full cooked breakfast, tea, coffee and juices. So not too bad price really. Plus kids free!. We were pretty happy with our first visit. My only miner thing would be the sausages would prefer a plain pork especially for the kids.

User

add lovely meal even thou we add to wait half an hour for pudding..

User

Nice place. Crap that tuey charge for the play area.. Food prices a bit steep for the quality.

User

Went for Sunday carvery food was luke warm and hardly any veg even the first course of soup was luke warm.

User

We came today for my daughters 7th birthday. We have no problems with the food BUT the main reason we chose to cone here was for the playarea. My daughter, her friend and my youngest were playing in there. Another mum conplained about the 2 eldest girls, who wouldnt say boo to a goose. Instead of talking to us , the member of staff was really rude to the girls.l, telling them off. Both girls were distraught and wouldn't go back in. When my firend spoke to the other childrens mum, the children came over and said they are still chasing . ( all girls weren't in there any more ). A mistaken identity. It ruined our night.

User

Visited The Castlewood today and I can honestly I am very unimpressed. For £9.99 we only had 2 choices of dry, mediocre meat that looked like it had been out for hours and only a choice of Peas, root vegetable mash and cabbage for vegetables and mash that was dry and lumpy, roast potatoes and the normal stuffing and Yorkshire’s. Compared to rival carverys in the area that give much more choice at a less cost I can say I will never visit the Castlewood again. Extremely unhappy

User

Not been here for a while and don’t think I will return.

On first entry the staff seemed “dis-interested” as we had at least a 5 min wait for a table (loads were empty) but were directed to eat in the bar area??? it weren’t that busy which I found weird for a Sunday carvery?

I paid £9.99 each for two of us to have a special 2-courses. Then once I had paid later realised it were tomato soup + carvery (not advertised) My partner doesn’t like tomato soup but after asking the staff for an alternative we were told there weren’t an alternative. The one good point is the carver was generous with the meat portion, but the selection of veg were small and scarce. Basically I filled my plate with roast potatoes (that were yummy) and peas. The veg looked dry and unpalatable.

I just felt that they could of been more flexible with the 2 course options and maybe getting a starter OR dessert. The yummy roasts earned an extra star!!

User

I didn't like the carvery it was 2 courses tomato soup and then carvery so too bad if you don't like the soup 1 course for our family as I wouldn't sit and have the soup on my own. The beef was inedible and gravy was like water. The veg was ok. When I complained about the beef all was said was that they would give my feedback in. So really a waste of money

User

Visited today. The had to sit in kids area as all restaurant tables reserved which we did not mind. However tables were filthy had to ask for it to be cleaned before we could sit down, no napkins or cutlery. We ordered our food when it arrived after the 40 min wait it was terrible. The children's chicken nuggets tasted like fish (must have been fried with some) so vegetarians beware the chefs mix their fryers! The chips were covered in burnt black bits gross! And my garlic bread was barely defrosted! Extremely disappointed. I asked for this to be fed back to the team on leaving by the lady in the children's area. So I hope she did just that! Poor and inedible!

User

Been today with my family and was told that there were tables reserved in the play area and to find one that wasn’t, which I didn’t mind as I found one that wasn’t reserved I was told by a rude member of staff that I had to move as it was reserved and he basically accused me of removing the reserved sign on the table absolute joke of a place will never eat there again avoid at all costs
