My trip adviser review will be in the comment under this. It won't let me copy and paste and I can't be bothered to write it out again. In short, best restaurant trip in a long time. Fab staff and lovely food.

Lovely place, delicious food, friendly staff!

Great staff, very helpful.Always get my order quickly and get honest advice on new menu options.Having been in catering industry before I know how hard it is.I always ask when the busiest times are and when are special promotions, I then avoid these times as I’m not a man for lots of people and everyone often has same dessert so I don’t want mine off sale.

Absolutely amazing both of the managers were exceptional Lovely food especially the curry night with different ones to choose from fantastic service from start to finish!!

Went lunchtime on a Wednesday pretty busy. Staffvery friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wasn't in any rush. Had food within half hour. Kids played in the Play zone. Definatley go back.

We were on holiday 250miles from home and wanted a reasonably priced pub for family style food and this did not dissapoint! All 4 adults had the buffet style chip shop tea and it was delicious, so good that you can sample a bit then go back up for more!! The only downside to this experience was no labellings on the individual items at the buffet counter (I didn't know I had picked up a spicy crab ball type thing) it was fun to play pic n mix but it would be reasonable to put up signs for when inevitably a member of staff isn't around to help.

My main reason for writing this review was for Richard the manager on duty who greeted/seated and served us. He was so approachable, friendly, informative and just a really nice guy! He informed us a big table was due in soon so we should order to avoid a slightly longer wait (this was brilliant inside info as we had 2 hungry small children with us ;-) ) and also seated us closer to the children's play area which unfortunately we did not have time to play in as bedtime approached :-(

Yummy food, brilliant service and an all round pleasant experience- even for a very busy Friday night!! Thankyou

The manager here made this place. Really friendly and good customer service. Came to the table personally to check our food was ok and chatted like he knew us. He clearly has a passion for his business and knows the industry. He made the difference after being ignored by bar staff when waiting for a table. He was so hands on and showing the team how it’s done as well as delegating tasks as any good manager should leading from the front. As for the food I had the cluck and ale burger which was actually amazing! Freshly beer battered and tasted amazing hubs had the ultimate burger and we both left feeling full and satisfied only tiny criticism would be a bit stingy on the chips however we even had a cheeky “calorie free” desert recommended by the manager. As far as pub grub goes this place is good. Service a little slow but they were fairly busy! The buffet evening idea is great if you know that’s what you want but you can still order from the menus too. Would come again definitely.

We went here few weeks ago had four meals and drinks used our Buy One Get One Free and I found our Bill Very Expensive at £42 and No Starters or Puds just three Soft Drinks n Two glasses of wine!!! But Food was Good some of the Staff however were rather miserable but then there were more Staff whom were very helpful and polite so kind of a mixed bag would I recommend the Food to others...Yes I Would.

Had a voucher for buy one get cheapest free. Booked a table. Told on arrival 45 minutes waiting time for food. Only had Fish and chips x 2. Good arrived after 35 mins. Food was ok. They obviously have serious issues with managing the amount of customers that they allow through the door. Is the seating too many for the amount of staff on duty? Are the kitchen facilities adequate for the demand of expected customers? Are the staff experienced and capable to cope? Who knows? But they have time management issues. If paying full price I'd be less tolerant.

Booked a table as was advised and told up to 45 min wait for food. Orders done, disapppinted at the lack of alcohol free drinks, sat and waited. Just after 45 mins for a couple of starters and then came the waiting game. Countless waitresses walked past our empty plates for nearly half an hour and at this point i went to find out where our mains were. It took nearly another 45 mins to get our mains and what a disappointment. My half chicken lacked flavour and the sweet potato fries looked as tho they had given up the fight, the gammon on the mixed grill tasted odd and for a grill plate there was alot of fst swimming on the plate. All in all a thorough disappointment with poor swevuce , poor dood quality and management running around like a rabbit caught in headlights but getting nothing done. On leaving thete was a long queue at the door being rols they had a long wait for a table but plenty of tables empty and had been for the whole time we were there!

User

Waited 20 mins for my black and blue Berger and they was right on one thing the burgers were black tasted dry and lacked any flavour and as off the blue cheese there was traces not a good meal and not worth the money I paid for it, would have asked for money back but that would have prob took another 20 mind

User

Wouldn't go again, went as a party of 20 but were put on two different tables which wasn't great, waited ages to be served at the bar to then find out was £4.00 a pint lol, not enough staff, waited over an hour to be served, when I did get served my scampi was on the verge of cold/warm so I told a waitress which came back 5 mins later to only find it had been warmed up in a microwave which made it all tasteless, would not recommend to anyone! Pile of crap

User

Went in today for my two old to have a play, saw signs saying closing at 4 for maintenance. As it wasn’t even 3:30 yet we went in anyway so he could have a little play. Staff were turning people away early and were pretty rude to us. My two old left in floods of tears. Will not be coming back. Could have a least explained why they were closing over half an hour earlier than they said or at least been nice about it.

User

To be fair, didn't even get a chance to hate it. Made a booking for 6 (2 kids) for 9pm. Arrived early, 8.30pm, to be told a party of 20 had booked on line and we would not be able to get food until at least 10pm. Sunday evening. No other restaurants available and an area we are not familiar with. Starving kids. Clearly a problem with large groups being able to book and dominate the system to the detriment of other smaller parties. Extremely disappointing.

User

Really seem to crack under pressure when the tourists come, best as a small business that has 2-3 families in at a time otherwise try not to go here!

User

Ordered food at 7pm, told a 45 minute wait which was acceptable, chased up many times and at 9pm we were still waiting for the food. Kept being told 5 minutes, people who placed orders after us had their food before us. Unacceptable service.

Living 5 minutes up the road, I have come here many times over lots of years. These visits include family meals, kids booked birthday parties, work Christmas do's and even several Christmas Day meals. The service I feel has been going downhill for a long time, and after tonight's meal I can safely say I won't be back. I booked a table at 5 for myself and my 2 children. We had our starters within 20 minutes of ordering, great! However we then had an hour and a half wait between starters and main. Then a further lengthy wait for desserts(which has been ordered at the same time as the first 2 courses). I had been told on arrival that they were on a half an hour wait for food, and they'd had a couple of large groups just arrive so it would go up to 45 minutes. However we were waiting for double that time! Awful service, and when the food eventually arrived it was barely warm. After 3 hours we finally got to leave

User

Got told there were no boiled potatoes to go with my chicken and pesto pie. So I asked for sweet potatoes, got told they would cost extra so happily settled for mash. Got served this sad looking pile of cold mash with a tiny cold pie. Definitely not worth £10.50. Oh and my thatchers in a Carling glass strangely tasted like Carling

Disgusted at this place as if it hadn't disappointed us enough a couple of nights before. This morning they dealt with a situation that shouldn't have happened very wrongly! Lucky my husband was there to help. Put us off our breakfast with our kids cause we was worried just hope the lovely lady is ok bless her
