Went to duke of York tonight with my family just wanted to say a big thankyou to the staff that was so lovely to us and our little grandson thankyou u were all brilliant and the food was spot on
We went there yesterday for Christmas dinner. It was absolutely lovely. The service was first class and all the food was cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!
We are from Ireland visiting family had lovely meal from minute we arrived everything was very good staff who served table were excellent food was great will defeatinly be back
Visited with my wife and son for his birthday. Had a lovely time the food was excellent and staff were very welcoming.
Super staff, lovely food, really enjoyed
My son and I visited at 1230 Wednesday ! Was most impressed too ! Very young lad was seating people , serving at the bar and being a waiter! He was very good ! Even showed us to a table where the very loud music blaring was not so loud! He dies you proud ! Thank u ! Food was well priced and cane fast , was very nice too , as fir sweet potato fries well wow , worth the £1 upgrade !
Many thanks for Saturday evening. Food was great as was the service. There were 31 of us and it went like a dream. Thanks to all who did a brilliant job. Much appreciated.
Lovely meal and good service! The only critism is perhaps invest in some new chairs to replace the wooden back ones that felt like if you sat back it would snap... We played musical chairs swoping with a few from the empty table next to us!
Lovely food and great service by Amy as usual! Totally tecommmend for a very nice reasonable priced food!
It was very quick service and very good quality food given it was Fathers Day well done to all working on that day
I eat out for breakfast lots and have had some nice ones, but breakfast at Duke of Yorks is the best. £8.99 and you can have as much as ya like. Unlimited tea and coffee, cereal, toast, cooked (choose what you want) Brilliant. Was short staffed yesterday morning, but still got good service with a smile
Have had many meals here and would highly recommend staff very friendly and helpful ,we recently had my 6 year old granddaughters birthday meal here with some family and friends and she throughly enjoyed herself and now we have booked up for my grandsons birthday meal
Group of 10 of us came up today, staff were very friendly and accommodating (we were celebrating a communion and birthday) Food was excellent too. Will definately be back
Great service gorgeous food
Came here yesterday evening for a birthday meal and it was excellent definitely looking forward to coming back again
Always have lovely food, Staff are great don't normally have chefs counter but family always rave about it
I prefer to try something from the main menu
17th Birthday party for 8 of us. Staff lovely Food Brilliant and very quickly served considering they were so busy. Weldone Duke of Yorks Dover
Very good service food was spot on we had a lovely meal and the staff where a credit.
The only downside was the toilets messy and male toilet seat was cracked
Usually have to wait until 2nd drink ordered before food arrives. Not so at this location. Food arrived quickly and well cooked. Definitely returning.
Excellent food didn't have to wait long for food to come. Will definitely go again.
Always a great atmosphere & a good choice of food available.
Good prices & a lovely Sunday Buffet. The staff are very welcoming too.
Gets very busy at times, so best to book in advance.
Took a while for our food to come out . It was worth it though 😊
Seated quickly, the orders came out sooner than expected, the starter was yummy, then it went down hill, fish pie, few bits of fish in sauce but mostly mashed potato, hubby had a steak but half of it was fat and gristle which put him off and although the waitresses were going around asking people if they were ok they ignored us, so sorry won't be back
On our way to Dover so didn't know where we were going to eat so therefore couldn't book a table. When we arrived we were asked if we had booked and we were going to be turned away before the Manager took over and "squeezed " us in. At this point I could see at least 6 tables empty. Anyway, staff were uninterested, my husbands order was wrong but hunger overtook complaining. As this is en route to the docks I would of thought passing trade would've been their main business and staff could've been more responsive.
Me and my partner had a sharer pudding it cost £6.99 and was very small and only one scoop of ice cream between 2 of you to be honest it was lovely but just very over priced needs to be a little bigger for that money or a little cheaper
Have just been to celebrate Mums birthday.
The service was excellent !!
The servers were wonderful
BUT . . . .
the plates were all dirty with stuck on food covering the bottom of the plates. (We tollerated it for main meals but not when the puddings came along. .)
Grotty .
Perhaps your dishwasher needs servicing guys ???
Also I was sad as I felt the places just looks run down. The ladies loo are awful. The cabinet covering the sink is hanging off, the doors need attention and I actually was stuck in there until another woman came in as having had spinal surgery this time last year the closures are so tight I couldn't pull the doors open !!!
Such a friendly place just such a shame management can't put some profit back into their restaurant. . .
Staff were efficient but had the Curry night buffet Rice was swimming in water curry dishes were lukewarm and one had no flavour, onion barje were burnt and naan bread doughy.Sweet was ok.
Meal was ok but Order was wrong. No apology and no effort to make us happy. 3 adults and 1 child's meal and one child without a meal. Try and explain that to an 18 month child!!
It was very busy & we waited a long time for meals. Out of 6 meals ~ 3 were awful, 1 ok & 2 very nice. I had smothered chicken that was chewy & not nice. Daughter had sausages that were black! Husband had lamb shank that was only just cooked & fatty. Fish & chips ~ ok. 2 fish pies ~ very nice. Desserts we ordered ~ waffles & mud pie were very nice. Barman didn't know what Irish Coffee contains! But did offer a choice with Baileys, Tia Maria, Jamiesons, etc. Staff friendly & offered to change our meals, but we didn't want to wait ages again. Very disappointed so doubt if we will return again.
Had the smothered chicken and the bacon left an oil slick on the plate, the chicken wasn't smothered has to ask for extra sauce, the garlic bread was like a stone had to send it back, my sister in law was sat next to me and tried to eat her broad beans and they kept shooting off the plate each time she tried cutting into them, would not recommend this brewers fayre at all
Food was great but staff serving our food was sarcastic, confrontational and rude. Really ruined a meal out with my family.
Food was good, but took a long time to come, and only turned up after it being chased, but the biggest let down of the place was the miserable, unhelpful and rude woman on the till. Saturday eve 17th June.
First few times it was very good.
However since then, food hasn’t tasted as nice, beer hasn’t been very nice, food luke warm.
However my recently visit, hair found in food, knife and fork holders were dirty. Fair enough the staff cooked another meal rather quickly, still not overly impressed. Have persevered for some time as the first few visits were lovely however will not be coming here again.
Was hoping to have an enjoyable meal with my son after a very stressful week. Yet we were sat next to a table of 4 supposed adults who ruined our meal with their continual profanity and swearing. The staff did and said nothing to them so it must be acceptable in their eyes, or rather ears. Total disgrace that people have no manners or care about others around them. Plus young children have to hear this language. I'm disgusted.
They didn't have a lot of people in but it was still half an hour wait and the food was crap. We had a hand of left over warm chips, all the food was warm not hot and the chicken said it had a glaze but it was smothered in a horrible sticky sauce.
Will not go ever again or recommend to anyone, please avoid
Ruined our evening. Everyone in our party had their meal apart from me as my burger was served STONE COLD. It took 15mins to get it back, by which time my family had all finished eating. It was brought back with mushrooms on which I’m unable to have. So I ended up without a dinner, despite us all being there to celebrate an occasion together. They did refund my dinner, but what a ruined evening it was. Such a shame. Won’t ever be going back.
Our wedding anniversary dinner.. 2mixed grills looked like all the meat had been cut in half to make 2meals waited for over 40 mins to get it. The only saving grace was the poor over stretched waitress whom was dealing with a raft of problems.. Would not recommend that you go there till they sort the kitchen and management out
.
My family of 6 adults and a child came to the hot dog night last night, can see why you dont have to book a table any more, what a let down and waste of money. was not told one of the main dishes were not being served which was chilli, hard rolls, no butter, had to ask for dishes to be filled so we could have what was on offer, over done burgers. actually went home hungry. Manager did not seem bothered, used to love coming up to this restaurant, so gone down hill.
First time eating here yesterday, decided to have the £9.99 carvery, i was served by a grumpy woman, given the 3 smallest pieces meat that i wouldn't expect to see on a childs plate. on a positive the younger girls waiting on tables although busy were polite and smiling.
