Brewers Fayre Woodpecker

I've been here twice so far including today and I must say the service was impeccable as was the food, a man I'm assuming was the manager was constantly walking around the restaurant asking the diners if everything was OK and bussing tables. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, my friend wanted custard with her brownie instead of ice cream and there wasn't an option for it on the till so the lady went back to the kitchen to tell them of the substitution after taking the order. Even though I've only been twice it feels better than restaurants I regularly frequent.

Here on business great meals and really helpful staff. Made me feel welcomed. Thank you..

Had a meal there last night for my husband's Birthday, the place was packed and we waited about half an hour for our food to arrive which is only to be expected as it was so busy, when it did arrive it was delicious, very well presented and great portion sizes, staff were very friendly too, will definitely be visiting again.

We have been several times and never been disappointed with the food an od time we've had to wait a little longer for our food but only as it was extremely busy.... otherwise no complaints ....would always recommend it

We enjoyed our meal (steaks). Thought the service was good too.

It can be a bit hit and miss,but on this visit 7 meals were all fine,nice friendly staff,all food arrived at same time,didn't wait too long either,will visit again x

We had a pre booking but our table was not ready when we arrived on time , the ladies loo was messy with 'dirty ' toilet paper on the floor , the service was slow & our orders got muddled up as the waitress couldn't tell the difference between fish pie & lasagne. Desserts ordered together came in dribs & drabs so some of our party had finished dessert before others had even recived theirs , also the waitress spilt a frozen yogurt over my granddaughter . Some of the desserts that were ordered were not available & there was NO choice for our lactose intolerant grand daughter only fruit salad on the children's menu & the staff were not able to tell us if other menu items were safe for her to eat or offer any alternative & she ended up with a slushy insted . We will choose some where else for any other family get together .

Ordered haddock fish and chips was very disappointed and thinking about it now should of sent it back the batter on the fish was soggy not crispy and the chips were the same and the fish had its skin on the bottom not good. Friends who ordered later had fish and chips and theirs looked crispy. Disappointed won’t order again. Shared a sweet which was lush. Service wasn’t great waitress came with pudding and the food plates hadn’t been collected. Atmosphere was good but we felt pressure from staff to leave our tables as they were cleaning up around us. Was busy but still expect nice food

Me & my girlfriend went last night & our food turned up in good time but after our mains, we orded our shared dessert; "Sharing Fondue" & we waited bout 50mins nearly 1hour for our desert, we saw another table havin the same dessert as us & then we decided to go upto the bar & ask how long our dessert would be & got told that they were only just doing it & it took another 5 - 10mins, me & my girlfriend presumed that the other table had been givin our desert 1st instead of us, we saw the picture/advertisement of the "Sharing Fondue" & our desert didn't look like it at all because the two sauce pots were not even filled up properly they looked like they were rushed but the presentation of the dessert was ok

After our last visit wish was enjoyable this visit was big let down.

As a party of 3 we order 2 starters which were fine. Out of 3 main courses the ranch steak was not available so had to order a bigger more expensive steak. After the main courses which were ok but nothing special we went to order sweets. Again no vanilla ice cream no lemon meringue so we decided to call it a day and not bother.

Quick visit to the gents b4 leaving not in a clean state. Definitely a down hill experience

Popped in with kids for late Sunday afternoon food. Kids food ok, our Black & Blue burgers were charcoalled to death, no blue cheese sauce and a limp and lifeless bun. Staff were friendly enough but the 'chef' (I use the term loosely) needs to learn how to cook. Poor.

Don’t like how you have to queue at the bar to order food and then get your drinks the night I was there at least 20 people at the bar not enough staff don’t know why the waiters can not take orders at your table and free up the bar for people wanting drinks

A safe measure is "can they cook a breakfast"

Well shortage of key ingredients like bacon, butter .....I kid ye not - no bacon was available one morning......did not bode well.

Items scattered sulking on the plate ranged from cold (beans) to "flamed in the gates of hell".



Evening meals are terrible. No effort is made by anyone.....from the chefs to the bar staff.

Terrible food.....terrible atmosphere.....chaotic and overcrowded.



We were based in the hotel next door for a week and just gave up on the woodpecker and took our business elsewhere.



As a chain pub there should be a minimal level of service expectation mirrored across the business.



The woodpecker sets itself low standards which it then fails to meet.

When your hubby is told he can leave a tab open so he did to find out 1 day later that a member of staff had stolen his bank card info to pay for £134 on hungry house well hope the police lock the one who did this up for a long time my husband works hard for his money which is more than what can be said for most that work in this dump we will not be going back there ever again

We eat here usually once a week but after yesterday’s experience that will be ate.

We waited over half an hour for our Chicken and Bacon salads - usually very good- and had to ask twice. Clearly, the order had been initially forgotten about and therefore was rushed. My wife took one mouthful of the chicken and actually spat it out. It was undercooked, like rubber. We immediately told someone who offered to replace the meal, but as my wife now felt sick she refused the offer. We were told the manager would be informed. I persevered, but as soon as I reached the chicken it was the same as my wife’s and after a couple of mouthfuls I downed tools. Time passed as we waited for the manager, who showed no signs of appearing. So in the end I went to find her. “ Er I was just coming to find you” she said. Yeh right. “But er er it’s been very busy.” Ok it was busy but surely you would deal with these situations where had we continued to eat we risked food poisoning, as a priority? We actually saw her after my wife’s meal had been taken back talking with other customers more interested in selling them desserts and coffee than coming to see us.

We were given a refund,left and won’t be back. I couldn’t give less than one star for either service or food as Facebook wont let you. We intend to take our complaint to Head Office as clearly the chef on duty was incapable and is putting people’s health in danger.

Waited way over an hour for food and had no waiter come over or say anything to us!( wasn’t busy as they were standing around :))Then when food finally came i received a burnt garlic bread and bland food! To top that of the waitress slammed the food on the table and walked of! I then had to get up to ask for some sauce, for her to say what is it you want! Disgusting behaviour for a customer!! Will not be returning

The first time I came here I waited over a hr and a half after ordering and no food ever came out. Today after being the fire station I took my son for lunch at 11.55 to be told they are not opening till 12pm and we could not go in and get a drink even. Then we were actually blocked in our parking space due to a delivery wagon who was lovey by no where did they have signs stating that could happen by parking there. After 2 very disappointed visits I will defo not be giving it another chance

Ordered my breakfast ... when it eventually arrived there were no beans.. no black pudding no bubble and squeak..and no mushrooms.. and when I pointed it out the lady Serving on tutted out loud..quite a few others in our party had the same problem... waiting time was 23 minutes.... won't be going back

Have eaten here a few times and always been happy but after our last 2 visits we won’t be going again... the last time was a few weeks ago when it took an hour and a half to get any food at all and after that everything was cold and the steak was like eating rubber!! We got refunded for all 4 meats and then today we went and after asking the first member of staff if we were too early( she walked away without even speaking to us) to tell another member of staff that it had happened again?!?! And we were treated like they’d stood in something offensive to be told no!!! And she then walked away... ��� So we went to the clock tower which was amazing and the staff cannot be faulted.
