Please take care on cliffs and beaches, they can become extremely unstable following persistent rain such as that experienced this week. Stay away from the edge and when on the beach aim to be at least the height of the cliff away from the base in case of any slides or collapse. Remember 999 and ask for the coastguard if you see anyone in difficulty.

Team tasked to meet Filey Lifeboat at Bridlington Harbour as they were towing in a broken down cobble. The cobble had left Scarborough in the early hours passaging to Bridlington to be lifted from the water for repairs. Just off Filey Brigg it encountered engine trouble and requested assistance from HM Coastguard who requested the launch of Filey All Weather Lifeboat.
Once safely in the harbour and brought alongside by the Lifeboat, the team assisted with mooring the cobble and when secure and ensured all persons on board were OK the team returned to station.

The team were tasked by Humber Coastguard alongside HM Coastguard Hornsea, Withernsea Coastguard and Easington Coastguard to reports of a person and three dogs over the cliff at Golden Sands holiday park at Withernsea.
The team were requested to conduct a technical rescue and bring the person and dogs to a place of safety. A technician was lowered over the cliff and placed the casualty into a rescue strop which was used to recover the person ...to the cliff top. Thankfully the dogs made their own way to the bottom of the cliff where they were met by some very friendly Coastguard’s.
It turns out that the casualty had been on the cliff for some time. Remember if you see a coastal emergency or need assistance yourself dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
