At approximately 19.30 Bridport were called to a single vehicle RTC (Road Traffic Collision) in the Bridport area.
On arrival crews found a small 4x4 vehicle that had crashed into the front of a house, causing severe structural damage to the property. Nobody was trapped in the vehicle and there were no major injuries reported by either the vehicle occupants or the property owner. An ambulance was requested just to be sure. The police attended and were happy no criminal offence had occurred. Crews ensured the scene was as safe as possible, advised all involved to keep away from the damaged part of the property and the vehicle. A structural engineer was requested to attend.

At approximately 11.45 our first away was called to assist the ambulance service to gain entry to a property in Bridport. On route we received further information of a damaged car and persons possibly collapsed and non responsive. On arrival we were met by ambulance staff whoŌĆÖd gained entry to the property. Crews checked the car and no action was required.
... At approximately 02.30 both our appliances were mobilised to a property fire in the same area of Bridport as the earlier call out. On arrival crews carried out investigations and determined there was no fire. The incident was then handed over to the police.

Our early morning post seems to have generated quite a lot of interest regarding obstructions being caused by parked cars.
Obviously we donŌĆÖt want to damage peopleŌĆÖs property and we really donŌĆÖt want to damage our fire appliance.
If however there was reasonable cause, actions can be taken under the powers of the Fire and Rescue Service Act 2004. In this instance Section 44/2/b

One appliance sent to assist ambulance service gain entry to a property where an elderly person had collapsed.
Unfortunately we were delayed due to a restriction in the road caused by inconsiderate parking on a sharp bend. We were then stood down only to be met by the ambulance trying to come past.
... When parking, spare a thought for other road users.
Time can sometimes be critical.

Just after 09.00 Bridport were alerted to a fire at Bridport ChildrenŌĆÖs Centre today. On arrival, all staff had been evacuated and the fire was out. After speaking with the manager, it was ascertained that no one was injured and the cause was due to an oven glove that had been left on top of a hot oven. Crews ensured the scene was safe and ventilated the property.

Both our appliances were called to a road traffic collision involving 3 vehicles yesterday on the A35 by the Eype junction. Crews made the scene safe, supplied lighting and assisted with casualty care. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all involved
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

BridportŌĆÖs appliances were called to deal with a road traffic collision this afternoon at Walditch near the real tennis court. A car had left the road and rolled numerous times down the hill before coming to a stop in a precarious position. One female was trapped in the vehicle and crews got to work stabilising the car with a winch so it did not move any further and then proceeded to cut the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment so that ...we could free the casualty. All this was being done whilst the casualty was receiving treatment from the paramedics. Once released the casualty was placed on a stretcher and carried up the hill with the help of safe working at height equipment. The casualtyŌĆÖs condition was believed to be serious but not life threatening and we wish her a speedy recovery. This was the first call with our new appliance which went ŌĆ£on the runŌĆØ yesterday.

For tonightŌĆÖs training we carried out ladder drills, pumping drills and hauling equipment aloft. This gave 2 of our firefighters in development a chance to practice before their stage 1 review and also gave our 2 newest firefighter trainees a chance to see some of the things they will be doing once they start their 2 week Basic Retained Recruits course.

Both BridportŌĆÖs appliances along with Charmouth, were called to a single vehicle RTC.
On arrival crews found a vehicle that had gone through a garage wall and partially through into the next door neighbours garage. The owner of the vehicle was still inside but thankfully uninjured. Crews assisted the owner out of the car and passed them into the care of a waiting ambulance for a check up. They then made the scene safe.
... Investigation is ongoing into the cause.

Tonight we had heat and smoke training at Dorchester station.
The aim is to simulate a property fire in a safer environment, where crews can maintain their skills. Crews were assessed on their giving and receiving of a briefing, donning of PPE, BA telemetry, search and rescue techniques and BA Emergency procedures.
It also gave the 2 newest recruits a chance to see what they will be up against in future training and real life incidents.

Even though this happened in 2015 im still glad that they are here.

I had a crash on sea road south just down the road from the fire station onmy motorcycle. When i was on the ground in pain i was helped buy a couple off staff members that were traveling to the station that day. They supported me while i was in a lot of pain and stayed with me for 20 mins while we were waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Imho glad they are around as they really did help that day
