Brierley Bears Description
Hi, my name is Kat Hartley and I'm the designer and creator of Brierley Bears.
I live in Barnsley, South Yorkshire with my husband Rob and our German Shepherd dog, Shadow.
The first bear that I ever made was for my Aunt's new baby in 2005. It was made from fleece and was not jointed.
I enjoyed making my new cousin's bear and decided that I wanted to learn how to make a traditional jointed bear.
I found a bear shop near my home that ran bear making courses.
Rob paid for me to do one of these courses, ran by Teslatop Bears, as an early Christmas present.
On this course I made an old fashioned mohair bear called 'Patch'.
I enjoyed making Patch so much that I immediately started to design my own patterns.
Needless to say, I caught the bear making bug and have been creating my own bears ever since.

Here you will find one of a kind artist bears, hares and other animals.
Each creation is my own design and handmade in my home studio in the beautiful county of Yorkshire.
On my page you will find work in progress photos, details of available bears and fairs that I am attending.
There may also be a few photos of my little helper (Shadow, our German Shepherd dog) too.
All of my creations are made from the highest quality mohair, alpaca or faux fur, are fully jointed and are all quite heavy as they are all weighted with steel shot.
My creations are all made in my smoke free home.
Please note that they are not toys and are unsuitable for anyone under the age of 14.
I will post worldwide and all parcels will be sent by Royal Mail or courier, whichever is cheaper. All parcels will be fully insured and tracked.
