Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Not quite, just lots of lovely dogs on walkies. Great place to come for short or long walks. Take some boots on a wet day for the puddles or going off piste. I like going out from the car park behind the visitors centre and back along the main route, but many variations can be had including linking it into Teversal Trail. Car parking is free, and make sure you pick up your poo. There isn't much poo around, but nice to keep it that way.
Cafe run by great bunch of volunteers, also excellent park for all
Great Parkrun on a Saturday morning. And a very reasonable cafe ☺
Ideal local area for walking the dog or for a quick ride. The park has access to local walking and cycle trails
Great place for walking and cycling. Great wildlife and views, has a lake, fishing club and a great visitor centre nabbed by volunteers
Lovely walk, especially for dogs. Would be 5 stars if my dog didn't decide to find a muddy trench and roll in it!
Lovely place to have a walk with the family or a nice little bike ride with the kids
Good circular paths, fishing pond, !ittle pond for kids to go 'netting'. Good cafe doing reasonable food (pie, chips, peas, gravy & mug of tea £3.30, 2017). Staff are volunteers doing a superb job.
Great value cafe run by volunteers. Dog policy a bit lax though, you will find thick owners letting their dogs eat off the tables
A great place to enjoy a leisurely stroll or a jog or just to walk the dog. Nice surroundings with a cheap and cheerful cafe in the visitor centre. The main downside is the lack of drainage in the park so after wet weather some parts get very water logged and sludgy. Sadly, as in most places, there are too many ignorant dog owners who don't clear up after their dog, though its not as bad as some other places.
This is a brilliant park. Especially for a walk in the woods.
The Walking - The walking is excellent, I went yesterday and the paths were well maintained and well marked. I did a 2.5 mile walk round the edge and went through woodland, past a pond and over the top of some sparse moorland style areas. It was varied and fun. The paths mean there are many accessible routes to take through all the areas and I saw a couple of prams being pushed along the same routes. I went with a dog, it was leads on past the pond but she loved it.
The Cafe - The cafe is dog friendly and rub by volunteers I understand. Great place. Clean and pleasant. Pristine when I was there and there were 6 or 7 well behaved dogs in there. Even better was the fact that on the menu was a doggie sausage and a doggie burger. I had no choice but to get one for the pooch at is went down a treat on her little paper plate. Brilliant value. I had a full breakfast and a coffee. I got plenty to eat at a great price. A good solid meal.
Having told my children about this they want to come as well and we will be back. I hope it stays open.
Brilliant place.
Lovely place to walk you can leave dogs off the lead very enjoyable walk
Always very welcoming, staff are excellent, taking care to welcome dogs too, great walks, runs and horse riding and a great afternoon out, food is always spot on, never had a complaint yet
