About Bright Future (Co-Operative) Limited

Bright Future's mission is to see survivors of modern slavery fully restored and living in freedom with dignity. This will be achieved by offering a supported, fast track to work in partnership with business and referral partners. What is Bright Future (Co-operative) Limited?Working with businesses and charities Bright Future provides survivors of modern slavery with a pathway to paid employment. Bright Future receives referrals of individuals from charities who work with survivors of modern slavery. Bright Future matches the individual with a business. The business provides an initial 4-week work placement. During this period, the charity continues to provide support for the individual. If the placement is successful, the individual is offered a permanent job. Initially Bright Future was a partnership between the Co-operative Group and City Hearts, a charity specialising in supporting survivors of modern slavery. As the programme developed and more partners came on board it was quickly realised that it had outgrown its current arrangements. In 2019 the stakeholders agreed that the best way to sustain the service was for Bright Future to become an independent co-operative whose members are drawn from the businesses who provide placements and charities who refer survivors into the programme. In May 2020 Bright Future (Co-operative) Limited was registered with the Financial Conduct Authority as a co-operative society. As a co-operative enterprise Bright Future is uniquely placed to provide a service that is designed, owned, and controlled by those closest to it, its members. Want to know more?
