The Bright Stars team are working hard to ensure quality of the provision is at its best. Lastnight all staff completed training on WELCOMM. This is an assessment tool used throughout the borough that brings a team of experts together to assess a childs communication and language development. The toolkit will be used when practitioners and parents feel a child is behind in their speech and language. Our staff spent 2 hours working through the information, which they were k...indly quided through with our local LA advisors. Moving forward the WELCOMM programme is a tool we are keen to use and put to the test. The programme to purchase is incredibly expensive, we are very lucky to have one in the nursery and will be using it more and more, allowing parents, practitioners, HV and speech and language therapists to have a clear development journey for your child. If you would like more information on this please discuss with your childs key person or management. (Yes there was lots of pizza too, it was a late night!)

We are astounded with all our little stars dressing up for todays 'World Book Day'. There are so many fabulous characters walking around our nursery! Staff have also involved themselves in dressing up.

Winter descended upon our garden this week 😍 ❄️ Our 2-3s took the opportunity to collect some of the snow and put it inside their water tray, this then led onto talking about how cold it felt, what colour it was and what happens when it warms up. Our mini stars began to add paint to the snow and mixed it up “for their dinner”. They then began to share their “dinner” with each other, tipping and pouring into different sized pans. The children then wanted to put their pans back outside to revisit in the morning. Another night of freezing temperatures meant the children could bring in their coloured ice blocks and begin mixing the ice in the tuff tray, they chose to add glitter and feathers. All children used different tools to mark make and enjoyed feeling the texture. #icyweatherissomuchfun

Feedback from our Christmas survey has suggested more parent involvement, we would like to invite all parents along to our Parents Curiosity evening to begin this process of bring parent ideas into our Bright Stars world.

Eric has been busy again! Our new playdough table in the preschool room is looking fab, the children are absolutely loving spending time using it. Lots of measuring, pouring and mixing is taking place. Children are learning all about ‘too much’, ‘too little’, different colours and different ingredients and adding herbs in for additional smells. All this learning before they even use the playdough!
