Whilst out patrolling, a member of the team spotted this very large, heavy and dangerous pile of netting washed up on the beach - not only did he want to reduce marine litter but as a keen surfer, knew the dangers it would pose to water users or vessels of the sea.

There were 451 accidental drownings involving alcohol and/or drugs in the United Kingdom from 2013-2017, with an average of 90 per year - a sobering thought.

Spring high tides and gale force winds make for a very dangerous combination along the seafront. We are currently experiencing some 'overtopping' of shingle along Hove Prom.
Please stay well back with your children close and keep your dogs on leads 🌊🙅‍♂️🙅‍♀️🐕

The message remains the same during rough weather.
Please stay away from the water's edge. Wave dodging or attempting to get the perfect selfie can prove fatal.

It's looking like great swimming weather this weekend for the end of the lifeguard season! Make the most of the beaches and chat to the guards while they're there. Stay safe and enjoy your swim🏊‍♂️⛱️🌊🕊️

Whilst on our early morning patrol we were alerted to this little feathered friend who had a fishing hook through its beak. Using all his first aid skills and careful consideration, our team member managed to extract the hook and allow the gull to fly off happy - probably to pinch someones chips in the Pride parade!! 🌈🍟🕊️
