Did you see Chris Littledale, Toy Museum Founder and Director on BBC TV Breakfast News yesterday?! If you didn't see the full feature at 6.45am and 7.45am here is a link to the Tweet which was shared by the Beeb about how the current lockdown is affecting the museum.
We got an email from a researcher on Friday as they were running a piece about the impact on Brighton tourism leading up to the Easter holidays. Chris listened to the researchers questions via speaker phone and I recorded him on my iphone, plus some footage around the museum, which I then Dropboxed across to her. It was more great publicity for the museum, especially the time that it was on the TV!

Shout out to the post office for working out what to do with an envelope addressed like this! Fan mail for the wonderful illustrator, Chris Riddell who mentioned us as his favourite local folk club during his BBC R4, Desert Island Discs program :-)

How you can help Brighton Toy and Model Museum.
Whilst we appreciate that this is a time of national and international crisis, and that there will be a great number of worthy causes deserving support, the museum receives no funding from local or national government, and survives through income from visitor tickets, school visits, shop sales, and donations and legacies.
The coronavirus pandemic is currently eliminating three of these four sources, making our continued surviva...l dependent on donations and bequests. We would greatly appreciate anything that you could do to help us continue our work, and to survive this crisis.

We may be closed to the public but we aren't twiddling our thumbs wondering what to do! We have got a lots of projects underway ready to have a big celebratory launch when we are all on the other side of these grim times - updates to follow. In the meantime we thought you may like to see some of the improvements Gordon has been beavering on behind the scenes over the last couple of months to our upstairs collection storage arches #comingalongnicely

Was this only a week ago? So much has changed in that time ..... we had a repeat visit from a lovely Dutch language school and their pupils for a guided tour of the museum. It's always fun to see people's reaction holding one of our Steiff bears - you are never to old to cuddle a lovely teddie!

It's with regret that we have decided to close the museum to visitors until further notice. We have taken advice from the Government and City Council along with our cultural partners with regard to the Covid-19 virus and want to do everything we can to protect our staff and visitors' health. There will be staff working behind the scenes in the museum and look forward to welcoming everybody back when things settle down again. #stayhealthy

First sunny, storm-free day we've had in Brighton for weeks has given us the opportunity to put up our fabulous new banners outside Brighton Railway Station- sponsored by Wallis & Wallis Toy Auctioneers! A great big thank you to Glenn Butler and also our friends at ACoRP - Association of Community Rail Partnerships and Southern Rail for your continued support of the museum! Don't they look great?!
