A nice promo film from Fly4Seasons, a BHPA registered school based in Bulgaria.
Grant Crossingham took individual Silver medal and team Bronze in the class1 (flexwing) hang gliding European Championship in Macedonia in July this year. The was our first individual hang gliding medal at world or European championship level for 24 years, since John Pendry took Bronze in the Europeans in Laragne in 1994, and our best individual placing since 1992 (Pendry"s Euro gold in Norway). Grant, we are sorry that this was incorrectly captioned as Bronze in the latest Skywings magazine.
Top Brit hang glider Oliver Chitty upsets the world order beating the world No1 on his home ground in Australia.

We are lucky to fly in a sport as rich and diverse as ours. Lets show we can also support the families of the ones that lost their lives chasing the dream.
A few weeks ago there was a paragliding competition occurring in Indonesia. 32 pilots were participating and the competition was going well, celebrating a newly installed launch for the region. The competition was also part of a wider celebration in the region and there was a big party being arranged on the beach.
On this ...day the 32 pilots all stored their wings in the HQ on the beach and went to their hotels. Then the earthquake struck. In that moment, 7 pilots lost their lives when their hotel collapsed around them. Others were injured. Over 1,500 people lost their lives in that afternoon.
Shortly after the tsunami swept through, destroying the HQ, and the region generally, finishing the work the earthquake started.
This campaign is to raise funds for the families of the pilots that died. Several of the pilots had young children. Some of the money is also to support the surviving pilots who may need further assistance.
Please show your support and donate now. Just 10 USD will make a difference if 10% of the sport donates. Be one of the 10% and lets show the caring side of the sport.
Thank you

An example of how a paraglider is made.
Former BHPA, and before that BAPC, Office Manager, Jennie Burdett's leaving lunch. Jennie has departed after 38 years of service with the Association. We were particularly pleased that Andrew Wakelin, who first hired Jennie as employee number 1, was able to join us despite some health issues. A 1991 paragliding game!
Its been bad weather for a while, so why not watch our top world ranked hang glider pilot showing how its done over the USA desert. Ollie Chitty leads with one day to go.
Nice piece on local French TV about the UK hang gliding nationals in Laragne. With the fast becoming famous Darren Brown.
Some people take the sport to ridiculous levels... parasailing horses ? ;)
Nice footage doesn't do justice and the home webpage is hopeless - but the flying is magnificent !
Jack Pimblett is a leading member of the UK acro scene, and this year is enjoying his success in his first year of competition.

An end to an era has finally arrived :(
And you wonder why the CAA once again want a meeting with senior BHPA Officers to try to reduce infringements and complaints which arise from paramotor activities.
