Two of our upcoming re-homings have been brought forward, meaning we have less time to find homes for 358 hens in Northumberland on 25 August and 41 hens in Carlisle on 26 August. Can you help? If so please make sure you're registered and then call 01884 860084 to book.

It's Monday, it’s 6pm, that can only mean one thing…it’s caption competition time! This week we have Hetty-Feather, Popcorn, Henny-Penny and Marilyn (rather lovely names!) What caption would you give this? Entries below please and we'll announce the winner on Friday! πŸ”

Wouldn't it be great if every time you did a bit of online shopping the store donated some money to your favourite charity at no extra charge to you? That way you could be helping more hens finding loving homes while you give yourself some retail therapy!
Well...you can! It's simple, simply visit the Give as you Live website, browse your favourite stores via their website, and when you make a purchase they will make a donation to a charity of your choice! Find out more on our fundraising blog: https://www.bhwt.org.uk/giveasyoulive/

Ah it's the weekend...which is the perfect time for baking! We think everything tastes better when you use free range eggs, and it's particularly nice when you can use ones from your own hens!
Next month, on 28th September, it's British Hen Welfare Day. In case you don’t know already, BHWD is all about raising awareness of laying hens, and encouraging friends and family to buy and bake with free range eggs.
The idea is simple – hold a bake sale (we’ll even supply you with a f...ab free bake sale pack!) and exchange those baked goods with friends and family in return for a charity donation. All funds raised will be put towards building the UK’s first hen welfare and education centre – a Happy Hens Care Home if you will!
You can sign up for BHWD here: https://www.bhwt.org.uk/infor…/british- hen-welfare-day-2018/
These very yummy looking cinnamon buns were freshly baked by Bake Off's James Hillery using eggs laid by his own chickens! 🍰πŸͺπŸ₯§

And the winner of this week’s competition is...Paul Burge!
The competition was very popular this week, but we really enjoyed his suggestion of β€œOn reflection, I'd have to agree we're chickens.”
The next competition will be set on Monday, so get your thinking caps on! And if the hen keepers among you have any funny photos you think would make a good caption competition entry please share them below – your hen may feature next!

As if you really need any more reasons to re-home a hen...it seems that as well as being delicious, eating more eggs could contribute to better memory, muscle development, better skin, hair and nails, reduced risk of stroke and more! Read all about it on our blog: https://www.bhwt.org.uk/themightyegg/
So, how do you like your eggs in the morning?

We're working with Government reps from England, Wales and Scotland to help improve communication for backyard hen keepers. But is that what you'd call yourself? We want to know! We've set up a survey to establish just how you'd like to be referred to - this is your chance to have a say! Click here to take part before Friday: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/833QNYR< br>

Are you one of the wonderful BHWT supporters who runs an Egg Club? If so, we'd love to see photos of your set-up, particularly if it's as lovely as this one!
Egg club is very simple: you give away your surplus eggs to friends and family in exchange for donations, which you collect and send back to us so we can carry on saving lives. Think of it as hens helping hens! For more information, and to join our Egg Club, follow this link: http://www.bhwt.org.uk/information/join-t he-bhwt-egg-club/

URGENT APPEAL. We desperately need someone to help tow a trailer in the Redruth area on Sunday, 19 August. It's vital we sort something out as, without a towing team, we cannot save hens. If you can help please call Gaynor on 01884 860084.
