Once again Autumn beckons the start of the suckled calf shows and sales and the NI Limousin Cattle Club, together with long standing sponsors Ulster Bank Limited, are looking forward to the show & sale schedule.
With Camlough and Armoy taken place already attention is drawn to Ballymena on Saturday 29th September.
Supporting the stockmen in the region is a crucial part of the Club’s activities and at these annual sales a superb selection of young animals are always brought f...orward across Northern Ireland.
The events attract good local support where young Limousin stock can be sold in the commercial market. he sales are an excellent window of opportunity to obtain Limousin cross cattle that are suitable for the current beef market or a chance to buy young replacement breeding heifers.

Reduction sale of Limousin cattle from Arthur and Laura Cromarty, Hools, South Ronaldsay, Orkney will take place at the Breeding Cattle Sale on 18 October.

One not to miss!

A sustained momentum for Limousin cattle at premier pedigree sales, regional sales, off farm, and in store and prime rings around the country was the backdrop to British Limousin Cattle Society Chairman (BLCS) Chairman Michael Cursiter’s first annual report to members.
With ground breaking breed improvement initiatives’ also having been delivered it meant that the Orkney based breeder Mr Cursiter was able to deliver an upbeat report on the 2017 year at the BLCS’s 47th Annual ...General Meeting held at the Society’s Leamington Spa based headquarters on Thursday 20th September. Mr Cursiter commended everyone involved in continuing to ‘raise the performance bar to produce Limousin cattle that are so suited to the needs of the modern marketplace’.

Devon-based Limousin breeders, Patrick and Sheila Greed, will showcase their award-winning Killerton herd at an insightful farm walk next month. Organised by National Beef Association (NBA) South West, the farm walk will be held at the couple’s 700-acre Columbjohn Farm near Exeter on Wednesday 10 October.

Limousin Champion and Overall Interbreed Champion was the 2011 born cow Whinfellpark Glittered from Messrs Jenkinson, Penrith. By the herds stock sire Wilodge Cerberus she is out of Grange Orleans, a cow purchased from an on-farm production sale from the herd of George Smith, Daventry, Northants.

Great trade at Hilltown Mart yesterday for the NI Club sale of females, strong clearance and averages up over £500 year on year.
Lots of commercial buyers by the ring with their serious faces on.
Making a return out of commercial beef production is indeed a serious challenge, one which continues to see the demand for Limousin females marching on.
... Easy calving, moderate size and optimum milk are the basics, but add the value of feed efficiency, top grades, a high killing out percentage and marketing flexibility from the calves and the production performance of Limouisn females is hard to beat.
