JOB VACANCY A bright, bubbly, enthusiastic, and self motivated member of staff is required to join our busy day nursery. Applicants must possess a Level 3 or higher, certificate in childcare, and be confident and experienced with planning, observations and completing and maintaining learning journeys. You must possess good communication skills, and be able to work as a strong team member, as well as using your own initiative. You will be required to work Monday to Friday, on ...a shift pattern. It would be beneficial to be a car owner/driver, as the nursery is situated on a farm, in a rural part of Redditch, and accessability is limited as there is no bus service. In return we will offer a competitive salary, pension scheme, 28 days holiday per annum, to include a week at Christmas and Bank Holidays. To apply please contact Emma or Bev on 01527 595454

Yet another productive day in the nursery garden (before the rains came)... New raised bed borders weeded and filled with topsoil... The nursery garden must be looking better... Even the scarecrows are smiling again...

Another productive day today in the nursery garden... First pic is a 'before' shot around the edge of the safety surface... next 3 are pictures of the raised bed we've created with some sleepers... next on the list is MORE weeding and filling with soil for planting or sowing...

Work on the nursery garden is progressing well. We have removed the pathways from the grass area and filled with (2 and a half tonnes) of topsoil. After the heavy rain forecast for this weekend we should be in a position to seed this area. More posts to follow...

We thought it would be nice to include some nursery recipes on the page (great idea Em) for you to try at home. Although we haven't tried these for the children at nursery, I bake them at homeregularly for our boys and they love them. They can be considered a relatively healthy snack too and the children will love helping out in the kitchen.
Ingredients
Serves: 12... 200g (7 oz) plain flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 large bananas, mashed 150g (5 oz) caster sugar 1 egg 75g (2 1/2 oz) butter, melted
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 25 mins 1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Place 12 paper baking cases in a muffin tin. 2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt; set aside. 3. Combine mashed bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter in a large bowl. Fold in flour mixture, and mix until smooth. 4. Spoon evenly into baking cases in muffin tin. 5. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until muffins spring back when lightly tapped.
These can be frozen too.
