We had two fun packed days here! Visited for the Tree top nets but were then convinced by our 8 year old to return for the Tree Top Trek. Both so much fun. Friendly, cheery, professional staff and a lovely light lunch up at the house.

User

We did the Halloween skeleton walk, and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our 6 year old daughter enjoyed finding all the bones to complete the skeleton in order to win a prize, it’s a great place to walk around and we were surprised just how big it was and all the things on offer to do, we will definitely visit again when we are in the area, and try a few more activities next time!

User

Mum,nephew and myself came today we absolutely loved it, especially Jacob on the play area and paddling in the lake!! We will b coming back xxx

User

Lovely place with lots to do for everyone. Decent tea room and cafe with a few smaller outlets selling hot food, drink and ice creams. My boys loved the treetop nets and the treetop trek. Zip wire and climb looked great fun too. Horse riding, boats, walks and an adventure play area for little ones if you don't want to spend lots of money or have little ones that need to wait for older children. Shame there's no where to let dogs off leads but at least they are catered for in all areas ( on lead), can't complain had a lovely day

User

Loved this gem of a place! Great exploring for our toddler and baby. Thoroughly recommended.

User

I visited the park on 10th August with my family. Getting about the park for my Mum was more of a challenge than we had anticipated but the staff at the park were brilliant! The lovely lady at the information desk in the gift shop helped us borrow a wheelchair. She also offered to organise a lift for Mum up and down to the waterfront (where we were booked for kayaking). We used the chair initially to get down to the Lake which worked well. We later enlisted the help of a young man, in a 2 seater buggy, to run Mum back up to the terrace. He also then ran her to the car park, straight to the car itself!

Our day would have been far less enjoyable/manageable, had it not been for the the help of staff. I cannot thank them enough.

Tip - I would highly recommend booking activities ahead of your visit to avoid disappointment. I'd say this is a necessity during busy summer months.

User

Had a blast yesterday doing Treetop trekking (2 adults and our 10 year old). The staff couldn't have been more helpful and although I found it quite challenging/scary at times (in fact most of the time) I can't stop talking about it. Such a senses of achievement! & the zip slide was absolutely brilliant! The little one said it was the best thing he's done in his life! Will definitely be coming back to Brockhole again to try other activities (and maybe if I'm feeling brave the treetop trekking again). 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 xxx

Got the launch to brockhole today to check out the new playground, WOW! It's amazing! My 2 and 5 year olds loved it and spent 3 hours on it! You've done an amazing job with it! Well done brockhole and playdale!

User

Fantastic place! Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Lots to do, kids loved kayaking. Lovely getting the boat to Bowness and even nicer that dogs are allowed on it!

User

Fantastic place - fun for all the family. Loads to do, nice food in the cafe and all the staff are really friendly, especially those in the Tree Top Trek and Tree Top Nets. If you’ve ever fancied a go at a Zip Slide this is the place for you - amazing and what an adrenaline rush!

User

Amazing place, something for all the family, beautiful setting.

User

Amazing day here with our 2 children, 20 months and 4 months. Great value for money as we just payed for car parking and were able to use the awesome adventure playground and enjoyed paddling in the water and playing on the grass. Loved the chilled out atmosphere!

User

We were there in the pouring rain but had a great time on the tree top nets! Bit much for our little one (3) but the older two loved it (8 and 5). Cafe is nice- good food and quick service.

User

Brockholes is a great place. The grounds are lovely & although we've been many times we always enjoy it. Tree Top Trekking is great. This time, however, the children did the Tree Top Nets. They enjoyed it, but I felt it was far too expensive for what it actually was.

I haven't given Brockholes 5* because although we do love it & will continue to go there the parking, cafe & playground have all recently changed. I feel that these have really changed for the worse.

Previously you could pay for the hours parked at the end of your stay as they used number plate recognition. However, now you have to decide how long you're going to stay when you arrive. If you then decide to stay a bit longer you can't add on just an hour, you have to add 2, which makes it costly. I never minded paying the optimum price before but we ended up paying nearly double.

Also, the cafe inside the house has changed to it's detriment. I think it's still in the process of being refurbished but the system is much worse. We ended up queuing straight across the kitchen entrance, which meant that the poor staff were having to dodge customers with stacks of dirty dishes or trays of food. Not really good for health & safety when carrying hot soup over the heads of children. Also, because of a crude barrier set up to try & stop this, people were pushing in the queue as they didn't realise a gap had to be left for staff to get in and out of the kitchen!

The playground has also changed & although nice & new the children felt the old playground was much better. They are 10 & 11 years old & there was a lot less for them to play on this year.

The addition of toilets near the playground is good although on both occasions we went last week, either the men's or the ladies were closed.

The little cafe near the playground is also good. I know it has only been open for a week but the previous cabin had tables & chairs outside, however these were sadly missing this time. And there wasn't a price list anywhere. So not only did you not know the prices, you also didn't know what they actually served.

I know my review does sound negative but hopefully all the above are just teething problems & hopefully by the time of our next visit they will be ironed out.

User

We went there on a rainy day so our little daughter could play in the indoor play area while we get some information on the Lake District. When we got there we found out that the indoor play area was closed. I checked the website before going and there was no mention of the play area being closed. They also do not have any free maps of the area, you have to pay for everything, even a one-page printed-out walking trip description. Disappointing!

User

Visited this morning with my 3 year old who was very excited to see an adventure playground on the big map at the entrance. However the playground is closed for renovation, with no signs warning of this until you get to it. We aimed for the indoor play area instead as I'd read about it on the website but this is also closed for renovation. Neither of these closures are listed on the website. To add to this, staff were cleaning the colouring in area so heaped all the sheets up on the tables which made us feel like we couldn't do that either! Lots of families with under 5s are in the Lakes this week making the most of a quieter holiday time, closing all the play areas at once made for a very disappointing visit.

We had a nice splash in the puddles but could have found those anywhere.

User

We drove up from Manchester today only to be turned away on the gate by one of the attendants who said if we haven’t booked one of the activities we couldn’t go in!

Nowhere on the website etc does it say this happens! Wasted 5 hour round trip journey! Wasted day! Happy bank holiday weekend...NOT!

User

Visited with my 3 1/2 year old hoping to so the tree top nets to find it was closed, as was the cafe, as was the lakeside cafe, as was half the adventure playground due to the tree top renovations, any mention of this on their website ? NO and signs at the entrance “Business as usual” ?? Really.....

User

Not happy with the fact that we turned up to do some of the activities, and to be told by the car parking attendant that if we hadn't pre booked any of the activities we couldn't park on the car park and had to park 3/4 miles away, or come back 3 hours later when there was clearly parking spaces to be used, he must have turned away at least 4 cars while we was there, and came across quite snobby, 2 annoyed kids.... thanks a lot
