Brodsworth Hall And Gardens

About Brodsworth Hall And Gardens

Catch a glimpse of Victorian life at this 'conserved as found' country house.

Brodsworth Hall And Gardens Description

Time really does stand still at Brodsworth Hall, one of the most unusual visitor attractions in South Yorkshire.

Inside this beautiful Victorian country house almost everything has been left exactly as it was when it was still a family home. Possessions that took more than 130 years to gather together, from the grandest piece of furniture to family mementoes and humble domestic items, are still in their original places.

Meanwhile the beautiful grounds, a collection of grand gardens in miniature, have been restored to their full Victorian splendour, and feature a colourful array of seasonal displays.

With its new children’s play area, Brodsworth Hall is the ideal choice for a family day out in Doncaster.

Wonderful place to spend the day, the house, gardens and the house tour was wonderful, I found all of the staff very friendly, welcoming, funny and awesome to talk with, a special thank you to Fiona who was very kind in helping me to chose what type of wine to take home, I very much appreciate and give thanks to Brodsworth Hall and Gardens and the wonderful staff in helping me to have a great day out I look forward to the brass band weekend.

Went to the enchanted gardens event. Really enjoyed it. Booked tickets for Santa and my son loved the story telling. Little bit unorganized at the end to take pics with Santa not helped by kids pushing my son out of the way. He was sat at the front and ended up being one of the last ones to get his presents off Santa as the bigger kids pushed him out the way. Would have been better to get the kids to queue up properly. But would definitely do this event again

User

We went to the Christmas experience this evening and it was really fantastic. We had a great time and I'd highly recommend any wanting to have a Christmas treat and wow their kids. The venue is very easy to find and staff are very helpful and friendly.

We pre booked the Santa meet and seeing our daughters face was brilliant as he walked down the stair case. Lots to do and see around the gardens and everything was done to a v high quality. One thing I would suggest is more food and gift stalls but that won't effect our 5 star rating because we had a great time

User

We visited the gardens today and they looked beautiful. There must be so much hard work that goes into their upkeep. Had a lovely cup of tea from the cafe and sat out in the sun. We also bought some plants, which are an extremely reasonable price from the shop.

User

We had travelled for over two hours to visit Brodsworth Hall and I would like to say It was just such a Wonderful visit from start to finish. The staff were really friendly our tour guide, sorry forgot your name (noon tour 5/8/18) had outstanding knowledge about the house along with all the other room guides as we looked around the house after our tour. The gardens are fantastic and so well kept. Brilliant day all round. This place is a wonderful little English Treasure so much history about the hall. Thank you Staff and guides of Brodsworth Hall for making the day so good. PS the honey and ginger ice cream was lovely.

User

We came to Enchanted Brodsworth this evening to celebrate my Birthday and it was a real treat! Loved every second of it, as did the rest of our party. My 10 month old really enjoyed the lights. Special shout out to the two parking attendants who helped us get out of the car park when we found ourselves stuck in the mud getting out!

User

Visited Brodsworth for the first time last week with family and friends and absolutely loved it. Before I left I even made me, my husband and little boy a member of English Heritage. We've been back again today and had a tour around the house, a walk around the gardens and a picnic. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and really helpful. It's such a beautiful and safe place to come and spend the day as a family. I feel so lucky to have this beautiful place so close to home and can't wait to spend more time at Brodsworth. I loved the little book shop too and even bought a few books. Not to mention the beautiful cake in the tea rooms. Had an amazing experience both times and will definitely be back. ps: All the staff really do an amazing job, Thank You xx

User

This was our 2nd visit to the hall and gardens but our first Enchanted Brodsworth and thought it was absolutely brilliant. The route was well planned so it was great for disabled access. The only thing that needs improving is the doorway leading to the archery range/ exotic sunken garden needs a little subtle lighting just inside the doorway towards the floor.. i tripped on a border stone as i went through the door as the dry ice was activated by someone at the same time but it wasn't enough to spoil our evening..

Well done to all EH staff for this and happy Xmas. See you in 2018!

User

The house was closed for cleaning but we visited the kitchens & servants rooms. It was very interesting and we were shown round by 2 friendly EH guides who brought it alive for us with their knowledge of the history of the place. We stopped for lunch in the tea room. The food was fresh & delicious & only took a few minutes to arrive. We had a walk around parts of the garden which was beautiful & immaculate. There was even a little graveyard for their much loved greyhounds. Was a lovely visit & the EH staff were warm & friendly & very informative. We'll be back in the summer to see the gardens in bloom & inside the main part of the house. Looking forward to it.

User

Really interesting place, I like the fact it has been left more or less as it was when English Heritage took it over

User

I'm ashamed to say this was our first visit to the Hall even though we live less than 30 minutes away, I cannot believe we hadn't found this gem of a place before. We arrived early to go on the taster tour which we can highly recommend as the guide very entertaining and informative, pointing out things we would never have noticed on our own. The gardens are stunning and the tea rooms provided excellent refreshments. The fact that the weather was glorious didn't hurt either.

User

First time to Brodsworth Hall and Gardens. What a stunning place, made even more memorable listening to the band playing whilst viewing the gardens. It’s a place that keeps giving. Staff in the shop very helpful and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

User

Been visiting brodsworth hall from when it first opened up to the public. As a family we never get tired of visiting , always something new to see and the gardens are beautiful and always a pleasure walk round or just to sit and enjoy them, staff and volunteers always take the time to speak to you and very knowledgeable about the history of brodsworth. Enjoyed many events over the years are favourite enchanted gardens at Christmas . Wonderful place to visit and credit to all involved who work very hard to keep brodsworth restored so it can be enjoyed by many .

User

Amazing gardens. House currently having a lot of works done. However you must go around a very fascinating insight into the way of life in the early 1900's and on. Would recommend going here and will go back again. Also coffee and cakes good choice too we arrived in a very heavy downpour so good way to start the visit

Went on Sunday 17/12/17, for the enchanted gardens event and had booked to see father Christmas, was traveling from an hour and half away but allowed just short of 3 hours, anyway got stuck in traffic only 10 minutes away for nearly an hour, running out of time traffic finally moved!!!! We where now 2 minutes away, following the instructions on our tickets, 20 minutes later still can't find the place, we have now missed out father Christmas slot, finally by luck we find the car park!!! When we get to the desk and explain the situation the man behind the desk was very rude and just said well if you had read your heritage booklet it would have told you that was the wrong postcode!!!! And we should just follow the brown signs, it was dark and there wasnt any obvious ones for us to see!!! I hadn't looked in the booklet as I didn't need to i had just printed my tickets and presumed the correct instructions would be on there!!! And basically tough luck we had missed father Christmas, I this point I was getting very annoyed having a 5 and 8 year old with me who have been talking about father Christmas for weeks, finally the lady behind the desk said she would go find someone who maybe able to help us, she then got Ian (we think that's what he was called) our saviour who just said not a problem he would put us in the next father Christmas slot two more wouldn't be a major problem, problem solved just like that, no rudeness, no cleverness just a nice guy who could see our problem!!!! Once that was sorted I have to say we had a fantastic evening, father Christmas was lovely, I real pleasure to watch with the children, would have been nice if the rules on parent to child where stuck to a little bit to make more room, 5 adults to one child was a little excessive!!! The gardens where stunning and magical, didn't want the trail to end was just so peaceful and the rest of the staff where lovely and helpful, will definitely return in the warmer weather to take in the hall and all the gardens!!!! Will just remember to not follow any postcodes and just hope for the best!!!

User

We visited last night and The gardens are beautiful and would recommend it. Father Christmas was FABULOUS but the experience was dampened by only one adult being allowed in per child. (My brother purchased tickets so I didn't know this until the night) That wasn't the main disappointment though. Some families with 1 child were being allowed 2or3 adults in with them. That annoyed me as it was a birthday treat for my daughter and her daddy and grandparents were stuck outside!! There was plenty of room as all the chairs were empty at the back. Just an idea for next year. At least allow 2 adults per family.

User

A beautiful sunny September Sunday . The gardens were looking lovely and colourful. A beautiful walk through the woodland and enjoying the views from the highest points. . The house looks fabulous, some restoration work happening but didn't effect our visit..The staff in the hall were very friendly and informative when asking them questions about the house or family that lived there. Lovely to see how folk used to live many years ago .. Bonus of a brass band out on the back lawn in the afternoon sunshine with the likes of a good pot of tea and a slice of cake from the tea room. down side only a very small room to buy from and gets quite crowded. . Very spacious seating areas inside and out . Friendly staff all round .

Visited for the second time yesterday as a big fan of the Victorian period. Such an amazing house and great to see the faded grandeur. However our visit was spoilt right at the beginning by one of the women on the front desk. We asked for two adult tickets, to which she said she’ll assume “with gift aid”, before giving the usual EH membership sell. We said we weren’t ready to commit to that as there aren’t many EH properties in our home area. She then proceeded to ask personal details for the gift aid tax rebate, to which I said can we do it without gift aid please. We were then left speechless when she said “oh so you’ve decided you’re not going to be charitable today” and initially I didn’t quite know how to respond. I looked at my partner in disbelief. I tried to say, that it’s not about being charitable but more about my income and tax situation – but she just blanked me and started chatting with the lady on the till next to her. She then handed me the booklets and proceeded with the canned speech about the annual membership again and talked over me. It didn’t quite dawn on us until we were walking away quite how rude she’d been, and we felt surprisingly angry for the rest of the afternoon. I’ve never been so humiliated.

Nice place to visit dont get me wrong...but went for 'Easter adventure quest'...to look for 'lengendary dragon eggs' to then 'claim your chocolate reward'... see where this is going. Extautionate price....no legendary dragon eggs...just pics with random questions no one would know unless u googled it...to be presented at the end with a old soft lolly on a stick as they were out of chocolate coins...for the princely sum of 33 quid.....never again
