User

Very good, great menu, polite and attentive staff, lovely atmosphere. The lobster risotto was delicious! Not particularly cheap but worth paying a little extra!

Three of us went for a late Sunday lunch. The choice of food was great and the fixed price menu good value. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. We sat outside and I was given another cushion for increased comfort. The food was excellent and there was only one minor hiccup when I had to wait a while for until the disabled toilet key was found. Would definitely recommend and go again. Lyne

The venue is super nice, the service was excellent and food was amazing. I had fishstew and chocolate brownie. Both of them very tasty! A lot of choices of wines and cocktails are available. I really recommend this restaurant :)

User

Superb food and excellent service, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone.

Love Browns have been to many of their restaurants all over the country, and last night visited west India quay. No tables available outside when we first arrived however it wasn't long before we were told one had become available .

Our waiter was David from Madrid! What a lovely guy and was very helpful and good fun. A great evening and fab food as ever.

5 stars for evening.

However, my friend and I returned this morning for breakfast. This was not so good we were left waiting for quite a while and finally our order was taken. We ordered scrambled egg and smoked salmon and smashed avocado on toast ( without the feta cheese) . This was really not good for the amount it cost! It was one thin slice of toast with a small amount of avocado and a few pumpkin seeds. Very disappointing. Also there should be some side options on the menu e.g.. bacon mushrooms. I shall return to browns in the future for lunch or dinner but won't be returning for breakfast.

Fab staff and great food. Browns West India Quay is always my go to place.

User

The setting is nice whether your inside or outside. Choice of food good with a warm welcome. We went for Spring 3 course menu which was fantastic value & good choices. Food was lovely, well presented, good portions. Only thing that spoilt experience was them adding wrong size glass of wine on bill. How many other people do they do this to who don't notice! Overall an enjoyable place to meet friends & eat.

User

Lovely food, nicely presented and waiter we had was lovely and sweet. When we was in there some poor lad tried carrying a tray of drinks down the stairs and they all went down the stairs... without him! That meant our waiter was trying to deal with the health and safety hazard and clearing the glass. Not his fault what so ever and we understand this completely. After we finally got out desert he apologised and was obviously forgived all in all lovely restaurant shall return when we are back!

User

Ate here after a long Sunday walk. Excellent friendly service, really nice food (perfectly cooked lamb rump). Knocking a star off because the butter for the bread was rock hard (a common restaurant problem) and because the tea spoon I got for one part of my dessert was still too big to fit in the stylish but unnecessarily small pot it was served in. The whole dessert was lovely, but having to scoop some of it out with the wrong end of the spoon took away from it somewhat!

User

Good place if you want to sit in the sun. Service friendly but a bit slow - given they weren’t busy and a few menu staples were unavailable which was a shame. But all in all a nice spot

User

We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. When we ordered our drinks we were told we couldn't have a cappuccino or a cup of tea because the machine had broken. To be honest that should have been told to us as we entered the place as a cup of tea with breakfast is pretty essential. I had the smashed avacado on toast. It was pretty average, although the toast was so hard I stuggled to cut it. Overall I wouldn't be rushing back for breakfast.

User

Not quite up to the standard we’ve experienced on previous visits. Staff very pleasant as always but seemed to be having difficulty with the orders.

Ladies’ toilets hadn’t been checked or cleaned.

Everyone has “off” days, it won’t stop us coming back but hope for better next time.

Interesting meal there for our family Christmas get together.

Arrived and when I told the lady my family had booked a table. She found the table and then began by only pointing me in the direction of the table. But then to be fair thought better of it and walked us at least to eye shot of the table.

My brother in law told me he had been sat for about 10 minutes and eventually he asked if he could have a drink since nobody asked him.

When the rest of the family arrived the ladies all went to the toilet and came back complaining. Only then did I correct them that it wasn’t that bad......because they hadn’t seen the men’s!! Tissue all over the floor. A wet floor sign pointing out what was blindingly obvious because the floor was a bog and that’s being polite (the sign itself had tried to take its own life and was drowning in the bog). One toilet out of order the other with the seat unattached and that’s before you looked at how disgustingly kept it had been. Soap bottles on their side and one in the sink. It looked like the toilets at Wetherspoons on a Friday night!!

Next we ordered our food with the manageress who was lovely. However the drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive and the bread about 15 minutes.

It got worse. When my wife’s mussels and my daughters sausage and mash arrived I was curiously thinking to myself and when the waitress returned with my steak I asked her “I’m curious. Where did our starters get to?”

Confused she said “have you not had them yet. What did you order” and then the manageress arrived and she too was surprised because she hadn’t seen any starters at our table. So she kindly took them off the bill.

Our mains all arrived and we were asked if we still wanted the starters because the cooks had just served them. I said we might as well. And they arrived.

And I have to say...my beef brisket were some of the most lovely fish cakes I’ve ever tasted!! I didn’t really know what more to do considering we weren’t paying for the starters, can you complain if you got the wrong starter for free?

A different minor note. I’ve worked in silver service restaurants. You don’t serve a child’s meal on a very hot plate. It’s common sense.

Finally we decided to risk a dessert. Portions were huge which isn’t so much a bad thing. But that only added to my frustration when I ordered a cheeseboard that cost £4-£5 more than my wife’s dessert and about half the size. 2 thin slices of Brie. 1 equally thin slice of blue and a small block of Browns own cheese. Worked out at about £2 a cracker.

The food was alright. Nothing mind blowing and I could have paid a lot less and got a similar standard or paid a similar price and got a lot better standard.

Even with the starters being removed the pleasure of this shambles came to £153. Cheers.

A table was booked specifically and promised in main restaurant area. We arrived within good time for our booked table, and was very dissapointed to be given a table in the bar area. Unfortunately the starter of prawn cocktail, was very disappointing the prawns had no flavour whatsoever, on to the main, 2 ribeye steaks, chips (very few) and watercress salad, more like a garnish. Fish and chips adequate, chicken Caesar salad, flavoursome. Desserts, caramel lemon tart, quite nice, choc brownie & honeycomb ice cream unfortunately a dissapointment, and the crumble was ok. So dissapointed with the service and food, so doubtful we would return again soon. When we received our check it mentioned we were a walk in party, so can only guess our table was given to somebody else. Such a shame was really looking forward to a lovely evening with friends, just thank god the company was great.
