Five new research collaborations across campus thanks to the Young European Research University Network Research Mobility Awards
... Five new research collaborations at Brunel have been awarded as part of the third round of The Young European Research University Network (YERUN) Research Mobility Awards. The awards are open to doctoral researchers, early career researchers and established academics at universities across Europe who are part of the network. Those who are awarded get support to for at least one week of research at another YERUN partner institution from a different country.
Brunel's five winners were:
•Archaeometallurgist Dr Lorna Anguilano, who will collaborate with Bioscientist Dr Luisa Bortesi of Maastricht University on a project which uses plants to capture metals from contaminated soils. •Dr Alina Miron will collaborate with Dr Florian Yger of Universite Paris Dauphine to investigate how deep learning can improve how machines use data in healthcare settings. •Dr Shaoqin Ruan will collaborate with Dr Paulina Faria of Universidade Nova de Lisboa on a project looking at how construction waste can be repurposed. •Rich Barnard will collaborate with Professor Sari Havu-Nuutinen and Professor Tuula Keinonen from University of Eastern Finland – Josensuu to investigate if the background of primary school science teachers has an impact on students. •Dr Mariza Dima will collaborate with Professor Josep Blat of Universitat Pompeu Fabra to extend her fellowship into a mixed reality application for historic houses.

Brunel is currently developing a new equality and diversity strategy which will be launched in 2020 and we are very keen to have students and doctoral researchers views at the heart of it.
