About Buckinghamshire Council Archaeology

Bucks Council Archaeology Service comprises the Archaeological Planning Officers and the Historic Environment Record. Keep up to date on these services.

Buckinghamshire Council Archaeology Description

The Archaeology Planning Officers provide archaeological advice to local planning authorities, developers, and individuals for planning applications across Buckinghamshire. They prepare briefs for, and monitor, archaeological investigations.

Buckinghamshire Historic Environment Record (HER) is a database of structures, landscapes, places, sites, and finds of archaeological, architectural, artistic or historical interest in Buckinghamshire. The record also includes supporting paper records, maps, a collection of aerial photographs and slides, and a library.

Our online database, Unlocking Buckinghamshire's Past, is available to view at https://ubp. buckscc. gov. uk /. Please note that the online HER data is not licensed for commercial re-use and excludes sensitive or copyright-restricted material.
