Budmouth College is a secondary school and Sixth Form for boys and girls situated in Weymouth, Dorset, England. Budmouth is located in Chickerell, a suburb of Weymouth and overlooks the Jurassic Coast. It is named after the semi-fictional town of Budmouth (based on Weymouth) in Thomas Hardy's novels. It consists of a secondary school and is the only school in Weymouth & Portland to also have a Sixth Form. Also on site is the privately owned Budmouth Community sports centre. It teaches over 1, 500 students in the 11–18 age range, school years 7 to 13. It teaches GCSEs, As Levels, A Levels and a range of certificate qualifications. Its results are better than average for GCSEs. The school has Combined Cadet Force which is open to all students in year 9 or above. FacilitiesThe school has many facilities at the disposal of its students, including: Extensive playing fields covering 12acre Sports Centre Fitness Suite Two Gymnasia 6 Floodlit Netball & Tennis Courts Climbing Wall Theatre /Assembly Hall Dance & Drama Studios Dark Room & Photography Studio A Number of Computer & ICT suites Extensive Library Two Cafeterias 6 Design Studios Revision Center and student Library 3G Football Pitch 6th Form Café CEIL CentreNew BuildIts campus overlooks the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The campus has been redeveloped, for occupancy after Easter 2011. The new building was assembled and the students and teachers moved in. Then half of the old school was knocked down in Autumn /Winter 2011, leaving "Clare Tower" which features 'The Centre of Excellence' and 'Sixth Form Only' study areas.
