About Burleigh Community College

Burleigh College and Garendon High School have joined together to become Charnwood College.

Burleigh Community College Description

Charnwood College provides an excellent all-through education for students aged 11-19 across Loughborough. It was officially launched in Summer 2012 by bringing together the former Burleigh Community College and Garendon High School to create one college providing seamless education. It was the first time two schools had come together in Leicestershire.

Charnwood College has a clear set of values, the principle being that we value equally the education of every individual whatever talents, background or status they have. We expect students to respect others, be community minded, work hard in lessons and to achieve their potential. We, in return, continuously strive to deliver high quality lessons, strong discipline and a supportive environment.

We deliver a diverse curriculum which offers breadth and continuity and provides opportunity for all. Our results and our facilities are outstanding.

As a specialist Sports College we enjoy enhanced facilities and staffing and provide a model for other schools.

Charnwood College has a large 50 acre campus, with extensive sports facilties including a swimming pool, two gymnasiums, two work-out gyms, a dry play pitch and three multisports halls. It also has multiple specialist teaching blocks and extensive IT equipment. There is also an off campus boarding house, called Field House which attracts students from around the world.
