As Burns Farm said goodbye to our last visitors of 2018 today, we would like to say thank you to all our campers, returning and new for a great season. We have been blessed with great camping weather this year ☀️ and hope for the same for 2019!
Another big thank you for all of your donations for the freezing of your ice packs- we have raised £100.00 to be donated to the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team to aid them in the amazing work that they do.
We have now closed the wooden s...ite gate for the winter to commence some exiting renovations, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back in March 8th 2019! www.burns-farm.co.uk #burnsfarm #theplacetobe #keswick #visittheenglishlakedistrictworldheritage site

Summer Solstice at Castlerigg Stone Circle - stay at Burns Farm Campsite and take the short walk on the night of June 20th to witness a truly spectacular sunrise set in a stunning location surrounded by Lakeland fells, above Keswick. With the summer solstice occurring only once a year in the northern hemisphere Castlerigg attract people from all over for a special celebration on the longest day of the year. www.burns-farm.co.uk 🌄 #10of74thingstodoinKeswick #burnsfarm #keswick #thelakedistrict #castleriggstonecircle
just back from a weekend here, just hubby and me, we had a tent pitch with electric, beautiful location and large pitches, the very friendly, helpful owner lady showed us a selection so we more or less chose our own, however in the tent fields with no EHU it looked as though there was limited space although the first full week of school hols so site was very busy. facilites spotless though and cosy!!!
the walk to keswick along the railway line was still closed so we walked to keswick and back via castlerigg stone circle, about 3 miles each way. we will be back ive no doubt, thank you
We are still here staying for two nights. It’s our first time and we will be back. Lovely site clean toilet block warm showers. Nice washing up area, fantastic views. And so friendly. Highly recommend. Two fields for tents and two fields for caravans.
Visited September 2017 and will be doing the same in Sept 18. Tidy and well run site.
This is a beautiful little gem in the Lake District. Off the beaten track and just beautiful. Will be back soon.
Myself and my partner stayed here over the weekend. The views were absolutely spectacular and the facilities were fantastic.
We were welcomed very warmly by the lady at the cottage and were given the option of which site to pitch our tent at. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts.
The toilets/showers were very clean and warm inside. Couldn't fault the place and will definitely be going back soon. Thank you for having us.

Lovely weekend here. The views are stunning and the way place so relaxing
Lovely setting - very peaceful and idyllic. Linda was very welcoming and was at hand if we needed anything. I wouldn't recommend buying wifi if you are staying in the cottages as you can only get it if you stand outside the back door. Very cute cottage with everything you need. Would definitely stay there again x
Just spent a lovely week at Burns Farm and very much looking forward to returning as soon as possible. It was our first time there and at short notice, only intending to stay for a couple of days before moving on elsewhere, but we were so impressed with the site, the cleanliness of the facilities and the warm welcome we received we decided to stay for the rest of the week. Thank you Linda; we hope to see you again soon!
Just had a great weekend on this lovely site. Stunning location, friendly owners, will be coming back
Just got back from a 3 night stay in the caravan and what a great chilled out place to stay, great location, very friendly owner (linda) great showers...cant fault the place and will definitely return :-)
Just back from a few days at this site, which I use a couple of times a year. Owners are top notch, facilities are very good...cleaned at least twice a day & water constantly hot. The views are brilliant. It is worth getting up early to watch the sunrise over Castle rigg stone circle, which is only a short distance away. Had an interesting chat with a very nice chap (who I think is a relative of the owners) & his dog Bob. This, to me, is what makes this place so special...the people!
Had a fantastic 3 nights nice clean toilets showers washing area very friendly and accommodating. The only problem was the ground was soft for a big heavy camper van and had to be pulled out the first morning but they helped out and it wasn't a problem for them but put that down to the time of year and wet weather. I think some row of flags would improve this site. We will definitely be back thank you for a lovely weekend
First time staying and I would happily recommend it to anyone. The scenery is amazing such a beautiful area and close to a lot of great places to see.
The lady was friendly and welcoming when we arrived giving us a choice of plot, it was very spacious we had more than enough room for a car and a 6 man tent.
Fantastic campsite!! Unbelievable views, good facilities, ideal location for Keswick. Super friendly staff!! Would definitely recommend this site. We will be back.........with our new tent
Burns farm is a wonderful, magical place. A fantastic campsite with excellent clean, well maintained facilities, predominantly flat well draining pitches, stunning views and welcoming and accommodating owners.
I have been staying here for many years now and will continue to do so for many more to come
A little gem of a campsite. The location is stunning and the views never get boring. It's a nice quiet site, so no issues with getting a good nights sleep. The toilet block and washing up area is always clean and tidy and the showers are just amazing. We always stay here when we go to the Lakes for a recce of the Lakesman route and it's always a long day, so the warm shower block and hot showers are always welcome. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We'll be coming back to this site for years to come.
A great campsite - owners so helpful and accommodating. Such a fab quiet location. Our dogs also loved it. We will definitely return.
Stunning scenery in every direction from second field down. The main Bathroom / Toilet Block has several toilets and showers, the showers are okay, they're set to a fixed temperature because they are to accommodate children, (would have loved a hot shower instead of a luke-warm one haha). The second block is very outdated and cringe-worthy, also didn't have any hand soap or soap dispensers in there. The Mens Shower Blocks are both different to the Ladies, there aren't doors for each shower, just shower curtains!! No lockable door. The booking process was somewhat stressful as there are two telephone numbers listed on the website, each for different pitches and I didn't get a confirmation email or reply to let me know if my family were actually booked on to the site; as nobody replied. (I had to chase them up at short notice). If camping in the Caravan field the views are blocked by trees. Overall the Campsite is good and I would visit again. Owners are friendly and smiley when you pass them. They sell their own eggs too. Farm animals are contained in fields, not wandering around the site.
Our stay at Burns Farm was great in many ways: the views are amazing, the staff were polite, the toilet facilities were perfectly fine, and the site is certainly cheaper than many others in the Lake District.
However, the pitches are very small: we were crammed into a corner and although I'd paid to park my car on our pitch, I was asked to move it away from our tent on two or three separate occasions so the owners could accommodate even more guests. I appreciate this was really no more than a trivial inconvenience, but I paid to park on my pitch and so I was disappointed when I didn't get what I'd paid for.
Worse than the issues with space and parking though were the state of some of the animals. I'm no farmer and I won't presume to tell those who farm for a living how to do their jobs, but on a few occasions we saw the owners sheep dog locked in the back of one of the owners car - it was riddled with fleas and sitting in piles of its own excrement. There were also a small number of sheep and geese (at least they looked like geese from where we could see them) shut in very small pens inside a barn and in the week we stayed at Burns Farm, we didn't see them being let out of their tiny pens once.
Overall, it was a slightly disappointing experience and as a result I'm afraid I probably wouldn't come back and stay in the future.
