Bursledon Surgery Description
Bursledon Surgery is a single-handed GP Surgery which serves the whole of Bursledon as well as the surrounding areas of Lowford, Old Netley, Butlocks Heath, Netley and Hamble, Swanwick, Sarisbury Green and parts of Hedge End and Sholing (see attached map). Our team includes one GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist as well as our Practice Manager, Office Manager, administration and reception staff.
We offer a full general practice service and run specialist clinics for diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, asthma, COPD, antenatal clinics, child immunisations, family planning and counselling services. We also offer a daily blood taking service.
Bursledon Surgery is a friendly happy surgery and we aim to treat all our patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence.
If you live in our practice area and would like to register with us, please complete one of our registration forms that are available from our reception. Two forms of identification to support the address and personal details are required as well as a new patient questionnaire. Your Registered Named GP at this practice will be Dr Vivian Ding. We also have an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Annie Johnson who can prescribe and refer.

In April we lost 95 appointments to people who didn't turn up - that's 15.8 hours or, 9.4% of our appointment availability for the month! It's also 95 patients that we could have seen who needed appointments but couldn't get one. If you can't make or no longer need your appointment, please contact the surgery as soon as possible so these can be offered to other patients. We have been made aware of an issue with appointment reminder texts being sent to patients. We have worked with our SMS provider and hope this is now resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.
Smallpox was a destructive virus with a mortality rate around 30%. The Smallpox vaccination was incredibly successful and resulted in the eradication of the disease globally in 1979. This demonstrates the effectiveness of a vaccination programme with high uptake.

Herd immunity happens when a high percentage of the population is protected through vaccination against a virus or bacteria, it makes it difficult for the virus to spread as there are so few people left who could catch the disease.
24th to 30th April is European Immunisation Week: European Immunisation Week is dedicated to raising awareness of the benefits of immunisation for the individual and the community as a whole.
With so-called "Victorian Diseases" starting to creep back in to society, vaccinating your child has never been more important. Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diptheria, Tetanus and Polio are just some of the diseases that can have serious consequences but we can vaccinate against.
Please note we will be closed from 18.30 on Thursday 18th April, re-opening on Tuesday 23rd. Appointments are available at the Eastleigh Southern Parishes Network Ltd Extended Access Hub over the whole weekend. Please call the surgery if you would like an appointment. Alternatively you can do an e-Consult via our website which will be actioned when we return to work after the Easter break.
